DOUBLE TRAUMA - FREE WEBINAR THURSDAY 14TH AUGUST 2025
Holding space for those re-traumatised by abuse in early childhood education...
Victim-Survivors. Educators. Advocates. Women.
Over 91,000 women employed in early childhood education and care were sexually abused as children. Many of these women report being retraumatised by the recent revelations of abuse and the almost relentless headlines uncovering new harms that are being done to children.
This webinar offers a free, women-only webinar space to recognise the pain and strength of each survivor with care and purpose.
The webinar hosts are educators, advocates, survivors. We are women who want to speak honestly about what happens when our work of promoting the safety and wellbeing of children is disrupted by those who chose harm, those who choose to silence children and their champions and systemic that fail.
This event offers space for reflection, connection, collective action, and the beginning of something more.
Why this event matters:
Women make up over 90% of the early childhood workforce
Nearly 40% of these women are themselves survivors of childhood sexual abuse
Yet the experiences of women victim survivors have been erased as the media centres a conversation on men; men as perpetrators and male educators more generally
The emotional toll of this moment is being carried quietly by women who still turn up every day for the children
This toll has been mostly unseen, unrecognised
This event is a trauma-aware conversation, led by women, for women. It centres truth-telling, support, and solidarity.
What we’ll cover:
- The concept of “double trauma” and why we need this language now
- National statistics on abuse—and how they intersect with our sector
- The silencing of victim-survivor voices in public discourse
- Where to find support
- How this is impacting women on a personal and professional level
- Options for meaningful action
