🌿 Why World Suicide Prevention Day is Important

πŸ¦‹ Suicide affects us all
Many of us know someone who has taken their own life, or someone grieving that loss. World Suicide Prevention Day gives us time to reflect on the value of life and reminds us that no matter how heavy things feel, there is always hope.

🩡 With awareness comes action
This day is about more than reflection, it’s about action. Its purpose is to raise awareness about suicidal behaviours and share ways we can prevent them. Together, we can make a difference.

πŸ¦‹ It shines a spotlight on mental health
We need ongoing advocacy, Faith and culturally safe support so people living with mental health struggles can access the right help, when they need it.

🩡 Honour our loved ones
This day allows us to keep the memories of those we’ve lost alive. It gives meaning to our grief and fuels our determination to ensure others don’t feel the same pain. By building awareness, we honour their lives and protect future generations.

🩷 This year is especially significant, as it is the first year our Aunty Elaine is not here with us to walk in honour of her grandson’s memory, she is now with him. We remember them both with love and strength, carrying their memory forward in everything we do.

πŸ’™ Community spotlight: β€œCome Walk With Me”
Please also take a look at Come Walk With Me with Vanessa Lowe, who walks each year to raise awareness of suicide and to bring our community together in hope and remembrance. Your support, showing up, sharing, or walking alongside, matters.

πŸ’™ Join us
Let’s come together as a community to share hope, raise awareness, and strengthen connection.
