At WaveCare, respect, dignity, and choice are at the heart of everything we do. 💙
Lee’s experience is a powerful reminder that even small moments in everyday support can greatly impact a participant’s confidence, independence, and sense of control. As NDIS providers, it is our responsibility to empower individuals—not speak over them.
We proudly uphold the NDIS Code of Conduct by:
✨ Respecting individual rights and personal choices
✨ Promoting independence and self-expression
✨ Supporting participants with dignity and compassion
✨ Creating safe, inclusive, and person-centred environments
Let’s continue to make a positive difference—one respectful interaction at a time.
🎥 Watch the video shared by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and reflect on how our daily actions shape the lives of those we support.
NDIS participant Lee just wants to get to class and chat with his friends along the way.
Instead of respecting Lee’s wishes, his support worker loudly interrupts the conversation, telling him what to do in front of everyone.
This interaction embarrasses Lee, making him feel powerless.
Moments like this can quickly weaken a person’s confidence and independence while they’re receiving support. To prevent interactions that limit participants’ choice and control, the NDIS Code of Conduct sets clear expectations on respecting individual rights.

💬 After watching, consider Lee’s experience and take a moment to reflect: As a support worker or provider, how do the decisions you make every day affect the people you support?
