We welcomed friends from Ni***es on Ripples Devonport for a paddle and lunch. The conditions weren’t kind to us on the Yarra - wind, rain, it was choppy with some whitecaps! We smiled, laughed, paddled hard and got wet - we more than earned our lunch. Great times with great women. Can’t wait to get to the Lake Barrington regatta in Feb 2026. &jsport

We are so very blessed to have the support of with Darren sweeping us this morning and Johnny coaching us. This is what teamwork between clubs looks like. Both teams sharing ideas and connecting. Thanks guys, these sessions are invaluable for us, we hope we are adding value for you all too! 🙏 🩷

Dam Busters took part in a training session at our local pool to practice what to do in the event of a capsize.
It’s a required safety exercise that lets everyone experience what it’s like to end up in the water fully clothed and learn how to react in an emergency.

Thanks Helen for your insight and for putting us through our paces, we are all much more confident should we have to face this situation.

Once the serious side of things was covered, there was plenty of splashing, laughing, and discovering just how heavy wet clothes and a PFD really are!
If the boat ever does capsize, at least we now know two things for certain:
1️⃣ We’ll handle it like pros.
2️⃣ We definitely won’t win any awards for graceful exits into the water! 😄🚣‍♂️💦

"Not all Heroes Wear Capes"
This is Eddie, our paddler extraordinare, who was asked four weeks ago to help put an event together for her friends grand daughter Sara who is battling a childhood cancer.
That's all our Eddie needed.
Away she went, and last weekend, with the help of her friends and family, raised over $10k for the Love Your Sister charity. What a day which was topped off by a visit from Samuel Johnson who heads up the foundation complete with his Unicycle, Logie and Dancing with the Stars disco ball trophy!
Eddie, you are an inspiration and we are proud to sit alongside you in our boat. Your Community, friends, family and all who you have touched with your generosity of spirit, applaud you 👏

Annette is not only an awesome paddler in our team — she’s also a first responder SES volunteer. Thanks for all you do for the community, Annette!

Annette joined the SES in July 2024 and became a crew member after four months of training, including ‘fitness for role’, First Aid, and working safely at heights. Her work is diverse — from pumping out floodwaters and clearing fallen trees to carrying out temporary roof repairs, casualty handling, and assisting police with crime scene preservation. She’s also been active at community events such as safety fairs, Christmas carols, and Rotary and Lions presentations, helping to keep the community safe and informed 💓
