* PODCASTS about HOPE - Part #1 and Part #2 - Dr John Burns *

“Hope is a function of struggle—we develop hope not during the easy or comfortable times, but through adversity and discomfort.” - Brene Brown

It was exactly two years ago, when Clinical Psychologist Dr John Burns from The Resilience Centre, sat down with Leigh Hatcher, in a conversation exploring the possibility of people rekindling hope after experiences of adversity.

Then two years later, John and Leigh sat down together again to explore hope, in light of John's own experience, bravely sharing his personal story about what it takes to rekindle hope in the face of adversity.

Take the opportunity to listen to both of these podcasts that are inspiring and powerful, they are a must listen for all of us:

'Supporting our Teenagers through School Pressures: A Contemporary Reflection for Parents'

When it comes to supporting our teenagers, especially during high-pressure times like the HSC, we too must understand their nature, their context, and the pressures they face. Only then can our support truly help.

This new blog post by Michelle Wotton, Clinical Psychologist is based on an original blog post by Gabriel Wong, Clinical Psychologist. It is inspired by his article ‘Understanding Your Teenagers – Help Them Manage School Pressures’.

For parents supporting their HSC students, as we come towards the end of exams for 2025, this is a must read for families:

Our HSC students across NSW are in the middle of their HSC and during this time, we revisit our new podcast, as well as a recent interview with Chris Bath on ABC Drive Radio about the ‘HSC' and the 'ATAR’.

Clinical Psychologists, Dr Mathew Pfeiffer and Michelle Wotton from The Resilience Centre, bring wisdom, expertise and passion for helping students, with the support of their families, to do the whole HSC experience 'well'.

They discuss the difference between ambition and perfectionism, tips for thriving (not just surviving), as well as the soft skills in life after the HSC that are necessary markers for workplace success.
