Following the address from our Prime Minister Anthony Albanese tonight, we are being encouraged to 'do our bit' and to be smart with our fuel by catching public transport, so we can save petrol for those who need it a lot more essentially.

So when we think about , we see that this is also an opportunity for Australians. This is a time to connect with others in the community and a chance for us to work better, as a city, community and country - 'together'.

What may it feel like to be a communal Sydney city? This is different to our experience ofCovid. During Covid times, we were being asked to isolate from each other. Now, this is just the opposite. Instead, we are being asked to come together.

When we are thinking about the stress of rising fuel costs, we can also think about changing the way we are travelling, by reducing our use of cars. What's the result? We get opportunities to connect with others.

Whether it is going to be:
- carpooling with colleagues on the way to work
- parents sharing loads with drop offs and pick ups to/from school
- children connecting together to ride a bike to school (where it is safe)
- or using a car sharing app in your neighbourhood

These are ways to save our costs, reduce our stress and connect with people. When we connect with others, we are building our resilience during times of challenge and uncertainty. It may take a little reshuffling in your life, but it is worth a try …

HAVE YOU SEEN ... our 'Cultural Values Cards' that were created by Registered Psychologist - Stephanie Schwarz - here at The Resilience Centre?

Sometimes ... relationships and team working dynamics are often disrupted by differing worldviews each person brings to interactions.

These 15 x ‘Cultural Values Cards’ help us to quickly see some of the assumptions or norms that are brought into relationships. Our cultural influences, along with our personal styles, inform how we define what is ‘good’, ‘right’ or even ‘normal’.

These cards give visibility and language to the assumptions behind the definition of ‘good’, ‘right’ and ‘normal’. Being able to describe the diverse worldviews people bring to a team or group builds appreciation, supports inclusive practices and encourages finding creative solutions.

These cards were created by Registered Psychologist – Stephanie Schwarz – here at The Resilience Centre and they are based on research identifying the fundamental values of a variety of cultures. Suitable and beneficial as a resource for use personally and/or professionally.

Available for purchase at reception or online in 'The Resilience Shop':
