Yao Guo-Myotherapy and Structural Integration

Yao Guo-Myotherapy and Structural Integration Yao Guo is clinical myotherapist and Anatomy Trains structural bodyworker practicing in Geelong. She believes that is what was missing.

With over 15 years experience in manual therapy, Yao has special interest in chronic pain management, postural alignment and spinal discomfort and pain. Yao started the journey of manual therapy due to some facts that she was having in her own body after multiple small injuries in her feet, knees, hips and wrist, they just wouldn’t go away. After numerous treatments to the same areas, Yao gave up to treatment and left them became chronic, however, Yao didn’t give up seeking solutions. She continued study, from Diploma of Remedial Massage to Bachelor of Health Science (Clinical Myotherapy), and she’s inspired by the Anatomy Trains Structural Integration (ATSI) work which resolve her chronic issues, now Yao is keen to completing her study in ATSI. Yao is happy that she keeps going all the way, she loves her job and gets a great deal of satisfaction from helping her clients.

Structural Integration is a form of bodywork that uses fascial release techniques and movement education to help clients with pain, postural compensations and movement restrictions.

Structural Integration is a project with a clear beginning, middle and end for clients. We use visual/ structural assessments to plan an individual strategy for the client.

BodyReading is a big piece of our training. Being able to globally assess the body and understand how the client's shoulder problem could be coming from somewhere further down the chain. Perhaps the pelvic tilt or the rib shift has taken away support for the shoulder, and unless we address the pelvic pattern first, we can’t give the shoulder the support it needs.

We look at movement assessments and gait, looking at how the client’s patterns or restrictions translate into movement.

✨ATSI (Anatomy Trains Structural Integration) is a 58-day training divided into three parts, with Anatomy Trains Structure and Function serving as the prerequisite to the three parts:

Prerequisite: Anatomy Trains in Structure & Function
ATSI Part I: Structural Essentials
ATSI Part II: Structural Strategies
ATSI Part III: Structural Integration
