Dallara’s Little Holiday!
Dallara the cat did not pack a suitcase, or leave a forwarding address.
She simply blinked her big golden eyes, gave one polite stretch, and decided that if her dad needed time to get better, she would bravely hold the fort elsewhere.
Right now, Dallara is staying with one of our beautiful foster carers while her dad focuses on his health. And while she misses him (especially his very specific chin scratches and the way he says her name), she knows this is just a chapter — not the whole story.
At her foster home, Dallara has claimed a sunny windowsill, supervises tea-making from the kitchen bench, and has already trained her foster carer in the fine art of “exactly five pats, pause, then continue.” She is gentle, wise, and just a little bit bossy — as all great queens are.
But behind her calm purr is something bigger.
It is incredibly hard to leave your pet, even temporarily. For so many people facing illness, hospital stays, or unexpected life changes, the biggest worry isn’t themselves — it’s “Who will look after my animal?”
And too many people don’t reach out for help because they don’t have a plan.
Animals give us so much love. They sit with us on hard days. They curl up beside us when the world feels heavy. They don’t judge. They don’t rush. They just stay.
Dallara’s dad made the brave choice to accept support, knowing she would be safe and loved until they are reunited. That’s what community is. That’s what a plan can do.
Until then, she will nap. She will supervise. She will love her foster carer kindly.
Because that’s what animals do.
They love us — through every chapter. 💛
