Last night, Digga and Nelson had a very special outing — they visited the 1st Belmont Scout Group! 💚🐾

The Scouts spent the evening writing heartfelt cards and putting together small gifts for people who may be struggling to care for their pets this Christmas. We also had to stay very alert to make sure Digga didn’t help himself to the treat supplies — he considered the whole night a buffet. 😅🐶

Nelson, meanwhile, supervised the craft supplies like a true professional, keeping everyone on task.

Thank you to the 1st Belmont Scout Group for welcoming us. These small acts of generosity will make a big difference to pets and their people doing it tough this time of year. 💛🐾

We are carrying a heavy heart this week.

This beautiful cats mum went to hospital last Monday feeling unwell, deteriorated rapidly, and sadly passed away later in the week. She was only 55. A Type 1 Diabetic—just like our own precious Digga—and sometimes this illness complicates things in ways no one can predict.

This sweet girl is safe, decompressing, being held close, and already stealing every heart here. She is deeply loved.

Her mum was someone who knew many people, and in the end she was with those who cared about her most. Her closest friends stayed with her so she didn’t pass alone. She was cherished. Now, those same friends are trying to make sense of everything—searching for her plans, working through grief, and doing their best to honour her.

While this darling girl is safe with us, her story is a gentle but important reminder: life is delicate, and tomorrow is never guaranteed. Treasure the moments, tell your people (and your pets) that you love them, and please—have a plan in place for your animals should the unexpected ever happen.

They depend on us, always. 💛🐾

This week, we donated over 700 pet meals to our friends at Bayleaf Kitchen and Uniting Emergency Relief so they can support people doing it tough.

We’re grateful to play a small part in helping ease the load for families who love their pets deeply.

Times are hard right now — really hard — and there’s zero judgement here.

Many people will feed their pets before they feed themselves, and we completely understand why. Pets are family, comfort, stability, and unconditional love wrapped in fur (and sometimes chaos).

By helping keep pets fed, we hope to ease just one burden on the shoulders of people facing challenges no one should face alone.

Here’s to full bowls, wagging tails, and a community that shows up for each other. 💛🐾

Thank you to everyone who continues to support us.

🌺 Remembrance Day 🌺

Today, we pause to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served — and we also remember the loyal animals who stood beside them. 🐾

From horses and donkeys to dogs, pigeons and even camels, animals played vital roles in times of war — carrying messages, supplies, and comfort to those on the frontlines. Their service reminds us of the deep bond between people and their pets — one built on trust, love, and resilience.

At Don’t Forget My Pet, we see that same bond every day. Pets provide companionship, emotional support, and a sense of purpose — especially during life’s toughest moments.

This isn’t a political message — it’s a moment of reflection and respect. A reminder of the power of connection, compassion, and the many ways animals have stood by us through history. ❤️

🌟 Human–Animal Bond Day was marked on November 8 — but honestly, we think it deserves to be celebrated every single day. 🐾💛

This day is all about recognising the deep, meaningful connection we share with our animals. It’s more than companionship. It’s comfort, safety, unconditional love, and the quiet moments where words aren’t needed at all.

Our pets
• Lift our spirits
• Reduce stress
• Give us purpose
• Teach us empathy and trust
• And remind us we’re never truly alone

For many people, especially during hard times, this bond is life-changing. Sometimes even life-saving.

So we honour the dogs who sit by our side, the cats who curl up on our chest, the birds who greet us every morning, and every beloved animal who fills our hearts with love.

📸 Share a photo of you and your companion in the comments — tell us what they mean to you.

Because love like this? It deserves to be seen. 💛🐾

🐾 Community kindness in action! 🐾

A huge thank you to everyone who dropped off pet food and accessories at our Bunnings Waurn Ponds collection! Your generosity, alongside the amazing efforts of a local school group fundraising as part of their project, is helping pets stay with the people who love them. 💛

We also want to give a big shoutout to our friends at Lyka, Veta Farm, and Feed Me Bellarine for their incredible support — together, you’re making a real difference for pets and their families in need.

Every donation goes directly to supporting people to care for their furry friends, keeping tails wagging and purrs coming. 🐶🐱

Thank you for helping us make sure no one has to say goodbye to their pet because of tough times. 💛

This is not easy to share. I am someone who keeps my private life close, and speaking about this publicly is difficult. But I have spoken with people I trust, and they reminded me that sharing our stories can help others feel less alone. So I’m sharing this with intention, not for sympathy, but because silence can be heavy.

Almost twenty years ago, I survived something that nearly ended my life. I was far from home, away from my family, and I was hurt by someone who was supposed to care for me. I remember sitting in a hospital, bruised and terrified, being asked, “What did you do?” — as though any of it could have been my fault. I truly didn’t know if I would make it home. But I did. I rebuilt my life with love, purpose, and people who showed me what safe connection looks like.

I am not ashamed of what happened. The shame never belonged to me.

But this week, the person who hurt me found me online and commented on our charity’s page — expressing pride in what we’ve built. And even after all these years of healing, that shook my sense of safety.

I don’t hold hatred. I don’t carry anger. I simply have boundaries. I choose a life where I am safe, respected, and able to stand in my own story.

Our charity supports people escaping family and domestic violence, helping them keep their pets when everything else feels unstable. We see how deeply this affects the body, the spirit, and the sense of safety. Privacy, dignity and sensitivity matter. No one deserves to be unsafe — not people, and not the animals who bring them love and comfort.

I am also lucky to walk alongside organisations who work tirelessly to protect others. We do this together, because we understand the weight of it.

So I want to say this clearly: You are not alone. Your story is yours. Your safety matters.

I am proud of who I am. I am proud of this organisation. And I am proud that I survived and continue to be someone who protects others.

Thank you to everyone who walks beside us with care and respect.

I am here. I am safe. I am moving forward. And I’m grateful to have Digga and Nelson and our community by my side. xox
