Today we remember the beautiful Sebastian ๐คOne of the first pets we cared for.
When Sebastian first came into our care, he was 17 years old, very unwell, and heartbroken without his mum. We honestly didnโt think he would be with us for long. His world had been turned upside down โ his mum was seriously unwell and had been taken to hospital, then transferred to another facility for assessment. At the time, we didnโt even know if she would ever be able to come home.
Sebastian was fragile, confused, and grieving. But what we quickly learned was that he was also incredibly strong.
With love, patience, and gentle care, Sebastian began to blossom. He was showered with affection, comfort, and stability โ and in return, he gave us his whole heart. One of the most special moments was when he was able to visit his mum. The bond between them was undeniable. It was pure love.
Time and again, when people thought he wouldnโt survive, Sebastian proved them wrong. He pushed on, day after day, showing us what resilience really looks like in its quietest, bravest form.
And then, a year ago, he let us know it was time.
It was one of the hardest goodbyes we have ever had to make. We had the privilege of supporting both Sebastian and his mum through their final moments together โ a farewell filled with love, dignity, and deep respect for a bond that never wavered.
Sebastian changed our hearts forever. He reminded us why we do what we do.
He meant the world to his mum โ and he meant the world to us too. His story is a powerful reminder of just how much animals are family, and how deeply they are woven into our lives, our hearts, and our healing.
Forever loved, sweet Sebastian ๐ค
