We cannot agree more with this! We put participants needs first. Ndis was created to help those living with a disability not to just line pockets.

Home modifications and why we decided that we wanted to make a difference. As a nurse with over 20 years experience I have worked in many areas with the disability sector being where my passion is, I assisted a new company with nursing assessments. While on a home visit I saw a gentleman doing “home modifications” as the lady needed a small ramp for access to her front door for her wheelie walker. I was absolutely shocked to see this person charge a ludicrous amount for packing up sand and laying a mat over it and then charge $600. I went home to my husband who is a Builder/Construction manager with over 25 years experience and he was also appalled at the way people are receiving second class home modifications with first class rates. This is where we decided we wanted to be part of that change that saw NDIS participants receive first class service and not be ripped off. Important conclusions from The Disability Royal Commission; although being difficult reading, it illuminates the unvarnished realities of Australian women and men with disabilities and exposes the institutionalised cruelty and neglect that these individuals have far too long undergone. The important work of the Disability Royal Commission, which was founded more than four years ago to address these injustices, is highlighted.
This story highlights the injustices that have long been disregarded while also revealing the resiliency and power of our community. Together, let's raise the voices of these people and fight for a day where everyone is respected and included. With each other, we can ignite significant change! Let's continue these important discussions and find a permanent solution to this depressing and systemic problem!

After four years of investigation and harrowing testimony, the Disability Royal Commission has released its recommendations to the federal government to improve the lives of people with disabilities and help them gain autonomy.
