📣The NDIS has introduced a new After Hours Crisis Referral Service (AHCRS) to support participants when essential disability-related supports break down outside normal business hours.

This is not an emergency service and participants cannot call directly. Instead, approved referrers — such as ambulance services, hospitals and police — can contact the AHCRS to arrange urgent replacement supports.

The service operates 5pm - 9am on weekdays and 24/7 on weekends and public holidays.
�It’s designed to ensure participants are not left without critical supports during times when regular services are unavailable.

Participants experiencing a life threatening or time critical emergency situation should ring 000 for immediate assistance.

The NDIS After Hours Crisis Referral Service (AHCRS) is a dedicated 1800 number for approved emergency services referrers to contact outside business hours when a participant aged 18 and over presents to emergency services due to a breakdown of disability-related supports.

NDIS FRAUD CRACKDOWN COMING!

The Albanese Government is moving to give the NDIS Commission tough new powers to tackle fraud and dodgy providers in the $50 billion National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Under the proposed laws, the Commission could:
• Ban auditors and consultants giving fraudulent advice
• Stop dishonest providers from promoting their services
• Strengthen penalties and boost info-sharing between agencies

NDIS Minister Jenny McAllister said weak prevention controls have cost the scheme tens of millions, with some claims once paid automatically — no checks, no evidence.

The reforms come alongside new funding and a national taskforce targeting fraud, overcharging, and fake providers.
However, tensions are rising. State and territory ministers even threatened to boycott recent NDIS talks over limited input in meetings.

The goal: protect participants, restore trust, and keep the NDIS sustainable for the future.
