REAL TALKđ„čđđŸ
I didnât just wake up one day and begin to eat better, sleep better, move my body, or feel at home in my own skin. Healing isnât that simple. For me, it came only after years of addressing the beliefs that made me feel undeserving of care, joy, energy and vibrant health.
Iâve hit rock bottom, many times-mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. Years of surviving a narcissistic relationship left me underweight, depleted, anxious, and disconnected from myself. My gut was unhappy, my cycles were painful, my energy non-existent, my skin flared up and inflamed and my mental health, an absolute roller coaster inside a prison.
Even when I desperately wanted to change, I often didnât have the strength to take care of myself.
The truth is, healing looked different every day and it looks different for everyone. It wasnât a matter of simply âchoosing new thoughts.â It required support: therapy, family, friends, mentors, and sometimes just showing up for myself in the tiniest ways.
There were twists and turns, setbacks and moments when I fell off the bandwagon completely. But slowly, over time, the habits that nourished me began to stick because I was constantly exercising the thoughts, choices, and practices that helped them take root.
I started small, eating breakfast daily, reducing alcohol, walking every day, drinking water, disconnecting from people and connections who no longer brought peace, prioritising sleep and gently learning to listen to what my body actually needed.
Step by step, habit by habit, my self-belief grew stronger. So did my self-compassion. And the more consistent I became, the more I began to see and feel the difference: my gut healed, my skin cleared, my energy improved, my cycles became easier, and I started to embrace the rhythms of my body rather than fight them.
Now, as a clinical naturopath, I guide clients to start exactly where they are, one small, nourishing habit at a time. While trauma support isnât within my professional scope, I bring lived experience, empathy, and a trusted network of professionals to ensure our clients feel safe, supported, and empowered to keep taking steps (cont. in comments)
