🌟 Pregnancy Weight Gain: What’s Normal? 🌟
“I’ve gained 8kg already, and my baby will only weigh around 3.5kg — do I need to go on a diet?!”
As a midwife, I’ve heard this concern a lot!
But here’s the thing: you’re growing a lot more than just your baby! 👶💪
🤰🏼What else are you actually growing?
⭐️ Placenta
⭐️ Amniotic fluid
⭐️ Extra blood volume
⭐️ Breast tissue
⭐️ Increased uterine size
⭐️ And more!
Current guidelines suggest that for someone with a healthy pre-pregnancy weight, average pregnancy weight gain is 11-16kg. But remember — your body is unique!
Factors that can influence your weight gain:
✔️ Your pre-pregnancy BMI
✔️ Activity levels
✔️ Twins/triplets 👶👶👶
✔️ Other health conditions
The real focus?
✅ Nourishing your body and staying active in a way that feels good for you. If you’re unsure or worried, check in with your care provider! 💬
You’re not just gaining weight — you’re creating life. ❤️✨
