Two days well spent with the Institute.

One of my favourite techniques was treating spinal stenosis’s side lying ⬆️⬆️

I can attest that this felt great post treatment.

Grateful for the education and being surrounded by brilliant minds 🤍

Spot the elephant in the room?

The right leg imbalance is the result of overtraining quads post ACL reconstruction, which has now resulted in another knee injury. Thankfully, it’s not another ACL.

Rather than reversing the Q-angle, which is a major contributor to knee injuries, quads are typically the focus post-op, which will increase the Q-angle and lead to recurring knee injuries if not approached appropriately.

The Q-angle is the angle at which the quads meet the patella compared to the line formed by the ligament attaching the patella to the shin.

The focus is now on improving abdominal, glute, and hamstring strength to address the underlying cause of the imbalance.

We observed substantial improvements in passive knee hyperextension when abdominal strength was improved. This also contributed to improving glute and hamstring strength.

Congrats to on his recent success at the U23 BMX Racing National Champs. He came a very close 2nd, had the fastest gate time in the U23’s and 5th fastest overall, including seniors. It’s a great outcome, considering he’s missed the past 2 Nationals due to injuries.

Programming becomes fun and challenging when you’re improving performance and reducing injury potential simultaneously.

Let’s see what the next 4 years can bring..

Some recent results working with my good friend . This was after 1 soft tissue session and a week of stretching and rolling.

The follow-up appointment we focused on improving range using corrective exercises which provided even better results.

He noted vast improvements in breathing and posture within the week.

Thanks to for the headshots. Love your work 🙌🏻

Spot the difference?

The first picture is of the left knee, and the second is of the right.

The left knee has an increased Q-angle or knee valgus, which has contributed to a history of surgeries, degeneration and heading towards a knee replacement.

Prior rehabilitation suggestions were to strengthen the quads. This caused pain and discomfort as it would accelerate the degeneration and cause further medial rotation of the knee. We first treated tissue causing foot pronation and medial rotation of the knee and loaded the glutes and hamstrings with bodyweight exercises using isometric holds. The client noticed a significant change in discomfort and could walk around pain-free.

This imbalance is no quick fix, and pain would quickly come back with inappropriate training and lack of compliance. However, with high compliance and consistency, we may be able to slow the degeneration and delay the need for further surgeries.

Grateful 🙏🏼

As Beyoncé like to say, It takes an army to look this good.

All great athletes have coaches, all great coaches have mentors.
Im lucky that I have both. Great coaching is about collaboration. Im grateful To and thank you for guiding me through this prep. We have enough data in the books to collaborate on the path, no matter how many obstacles we have faced or challenges that have come up. We have always been able to communicate and navigate it together.

thank you for pushing me through my Monday program, I am grateful for those sessions with you.

and thank you for the body work you have done with me. Without this my body would be be able to fully sustain the output I place on it 🙏🏼

Anne, what an amazing warrior pieces you out together for me this year. It fit my body perfectly and I appreciate you let me collaborate with you on the creation. You did 99% but that 1% was appreciated. I’ve never been so fussed over at a show with videography! I felt like a celebrity and I know you do this for ALL of your girls.

To my sponsors for always supporting me.
for keeping my digestion in check whilst I met the demands of my prep .
thank you for supporting me with the minerals and vitamins I needed to meet the demands of this prep.

It was one of the toughest Preps I’ve done but one of the most rewarding. I nearly pulled out half way, but I’m so glad I didn’t.

Thank you to everyone who came to see me over the weekend, I’ve never walked out to a packed out crowd like that and it blew me away so much I literally@forgot what I was doing 😝❤️

When acute pain presents, people often ask, how did this happen to me suddenly?

Daily, our bodies are stressed from training, prolonged sitting at computers and mobile phones, the way we sleep and stress in various areas of life. Over time, our bodies adapt to the posture we create daily.

These postural adaptions lead to various imbalances and wear and tear, which become exacerbated through training, and most think "the pain will go away". It rarely does.

As imbalances evolve, they become more challenging to reverse and require so much work many don't want to do the work to reverse the true cause.

This is why regular maintenance work is required to prevent injuries rather than work on a reactive model, addressing symptoms as they present.

By the time the body is telling you it needs soft tissue work, the damage is done.
