A few weeks ago, I had a routine annual optometrist appointment like we all do (or well, most of us).
Something that the optometrist (whom I have never seen before - my normal optometrist was out sick and so they moved me across to another optometrist) said to me has been playing on my mind, and making me laugh at random times.
As I wear contacts, she asked if I wear them when swimming, or showering. I do, to which she responded that it was dangerous to do so, as 'things get trapped under contacts'.
I asked if she meant it was 'dangerous' for me to open my eyes underwater, to which she said no, just wearing them when your head is under water is dangerous.
Now I am 100% all for learning from others, knowing that there are people far more qualified in specialist fields than I am.
However, our bodies were divinely created, and have been submerged in water since human existed. If doing so with contacts in is such a great risk, that is telling me that either:
a) contacts are hugely toxic and would present problems to every person every time they wear them, regardless of being under water or not
b) there is something unbalanced within that specific human being's body that is causing a temporary area of weakness.
The human body is utterly amazing. Its sole purpose is to provide your soul with a safe physical place to reside during this life time.
Our bodies are hugely capable of so much more than we often give them credit for (if you are after a good book on how we as a society prioritise comfort and convenience over capabilities, Comfort Crisis by Michael Ester is a great read/listen https://amzn.to/4o68sfn ).
Your body has the ability to heal almost anything.
Does it need guidance to do so? Often yes.
Is it easier to do so with a village? Very much so. Humans are a tribal species.
is it much easier when you feel safety and trust with whom you are working with? This can not be understated!
Your soul is brilliant.
Your body is a miraculous work of art.
You are the magic ✨
