Earlier this year I completed training with the Microbiome Restoration Centre, to deepen my knowledge and understanding of digestive health and the microbiome.
As you may or may not know, naturopaths are notorious for their interest in gut health and paths of elimination 💩 but this really had me level up – a holistic and evidence-based dive into the most effective strategies for diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal disorders. Fascinating. And, more importantly, extremely clinically relevant. It has certainly enriched my practice, and I look forward to doing more training in this area, to continue building on the support I can offer patients.
❓️ Did you know that naturopaths and acupuncturists – like all health practitioners – are required to do CPD (continued professional development) every year, in order to maintain insurance (in the case of both naturopathy and acupuncture) and professional registration (in the case of acupuncture).
Each year, I have to complete at least 30 hours of CPD for naturopathy and at least 20 hours for acupuncture. This equates to a short course or a multi-day conference… though I always end up doing *well* above the required hours for both naturopathy and acupuncture, when I add in extra courses and training, peer/colleague case meetings, academic lecturing, professional mentoring etc. I think it’s so important to keep learning and growing... as both a human and a practitioner. Everyone benefits 🧡
