✨ Emotions Speak Through the Body ✨

Emotions & Somatic Cues:
• Sadness → Heaviness, fatigue, lump in the throat, drooping face
• Anger → Hot, flushed face, tension, racing heart, clenched jaw/fists
• Fear → Fight-or-flight, shortness of breath, frozen, wide eyes
• Disgust → Nausea, stomach churning, scrunched face
• Joy → Warmth in chest, lightness, energy, flushed cheeks
• Surprise → Breathless, jumpy, jaw drop, raised eyebrows
• Jealousy → Pit in stomach, racing heart, on edge
• Shame → Hot face, lowered eyes, sunken posture, drooping shoulders
• Calm → Steady breath, grounded, relaxed posture, ease.

💡 Your body is speaking. Listen with curiosity, not judgment.

😂 Friday Funny (with a truth bomb) 😂

When your therapist says:
“Just notice it in your body…”

…and suddenly you’re aware of:
👉 18 random aches
👉 6 suspicious twitches
👉 3 stomach growls you swear weren’t there before

Welcome to embodiment. 😅

Here’s the thing though, the body really does hold emotions.
That tight jaw, heavy chest, or knot in the stomach?
They’re signals. Not random. Not “just in your head.”

And when we bring awareness to them,
we can move them, shift them, and let them pass through, even if we don’t know exactly what they are.

That’s the gift of embodiment: you don’t always need the story.
Sometimes the body just needs space to release.

💡 And yes, laughter helps too. Because healing doesn’t have to be heavy all the time.

Happy Friday, friends 🌿💜

🌱 Hope isn’t certainty… it’s possibility. 🌱

Hope doesn’t demand that you know how it will all work out.
It doesn’t need guarantees or perfect plans.
It lives in the quiet “maybe.”
The whisper of “what if things could be different?”

Hope shows up in small ways:
✨ Reaching out again after disappointment
✨ Planting seeds you’re not sure will grow
✨ Letting yourself imagine something good
✨ Believing that healing is possible, even if it’s slow

👉 Fear says: “Don’t hope, it’ll hurt too much if it doesn’t happen.”
👉 Hope replies: “Yes, it might hurt… but what if it also brings life back to me?”

Hope is the courage to hold space for both pain and possibility.
It doesn’t erase the struggle, it grows alongside it.

💭 Hope feels like:
• The soft glow on the horizon before the sun rises
• A breath of fresh air after being underwater
• The gentle warmth of “maybe this time will be different”

Hope doesn’t mean you won’t face setbacks.
It means you haven’t closed the door on what’s still to come.

✨ You don’t have to leap into certainty.
Just let hope flicker.
It’s enough.

💚 What’s one small hope you’re holding onto today?

💫 Surprise isn’t always shock, sometimes it’s awe. 💫

It doesn’t always come crashing in.

Sometimes, Surprise is a pause in the breath.
A widened eye.
A “Wait… did that just happen?” moment that opens space for something new.

It can feel thrilling, but also unsettling.
Unexpected emotions rise up. Unexpected truths.
You might even feel your body jolt, not in fear, but in alertness.

Surprise is a threshold emotion.
It holds the in-between, before you know what to feel next.
It can lead you to joy, fear, laughter… or sometimes all three.

👉 Protective parts might say:
“Don’t get too excited. Don’t trust it. It might go away.”

But another part of you whispers:
“What if this is safe to feel? What if this is real?”

Surprise reminds us that not everything has to be planned.
That not all good things come from striving.
That healing can arrive in unexpected ways,
a phone call, a kind word, a moment of connection you didn’t see coming.

✨ Maybe you’re allowed to be caught off guard.
✨ Maybe it’s okay to enjoy something before you’ve earned it.
✨ Maybe it’s safe to let your guard down… just a little.

Because Surprise doesn’t just bring chaos…
It brings possibility.

🌿 Calm isn’t nothingness, it’s quiet safety 🌿

Calm is often misunderstood.

It’s not a lack of feeling.
It’s not zoning out, pushing things down, or pretending everything’s fine.
It’s not apathy.

🕊️ Calm is a nervous system that isn’t bracing anymore.
It’s steady breath.
Soft shoulders.
A body that doesn’t feel the need to protect itself in every moment.

It’s the feeling of being safe, not just in your mind, but in your body.

And calm doesn’t mean the world is perfect.
It means you’re not at war with yourself anymore.

You might reach calm after moving through a storm, sadness, fear, shame, vulnerability, even joy.
Not because you forced your way through, but because you stayed.

👉 Where once you would’ve shut down… you breathed.
👉 Where once you would’ve lashed out… you softened.
👉 Where once you would’ve run… you remained.

That is calm.

It looks like:
✨ A long, slow exhale
✨ Feeling the ground beneath your feet
✨ Trusting that you can handle what comes next
✨ Noticing tension… and releasing it
✨ No longer waiting for the next emotional wave to crash

You don’t have to live in calm all the time. That’s not the goal.

But when you find it, even for a moment, let yourself rest there.

🌀 Calm is the pause.
The anchor.
The steady hands holding space for everything else to unfold.

💚 Drop a 🌿 if calm feels like something you’re learning to let in.

💛 Joy isn’t always loud. Sometimes, it’s just… light 💛

Joy can be easy to overlook.
It doesn’t always arrive with fireworks.
Sometimes, it tiptoes in…
as a soft smile,
a gentle exhale,
or the moment you realise your body isn’t bracing anymore.

It’s not about everything being perfect.
It’s about noticing a flicker of freedom,
in yourself, in a moment, or in connection.

👉 Fear says: “It’ll disappear if I get too comfortable.”
👉 Joy replies: “I’m not here to trick you. I’m here to remind you, you’re still alive inside.”

And after a week of sitting with the heavier emotions,
the vulnerability, the fear, the deep love and compassion -
Joy is the space that opens up when you let yourself feel it all.
She’s the light that follows the storm.

Joy looks like:
✨ Laughing with your whole body
✨ Feeling silly without shame
✨ Letting yourself dance, sing, or play, just because
✨ Noticing beauty and letting it land
✨ Trusting that goodness doesn’t always need a reason

Joy isn’t a reward for healing, it’s a part of it.
Let it rise. Let it move through you. Let it stay, if only for a moment.

💛 What’s one small thing that sparked joy for you recently?

🩷 Compassion isn’t a soft whisper, it’s a steady presence. 🩷

Technically, compassion isn’t one of the “core emotions.”
It’s considered an emotional state.
But in healing? It functions just like an emotion, and a powerful one at that.

It’s what softens the shame.
Anchors the fear.
And helps us stay present with our pain, without shutting down or turning away.

🌀 Compassion says:
“I see you.”
“I know this hurts.”
“You’re not broken, you’re human.”

It’s not about rescuing. Or excusing.
It’s about staying, gently, honestly, and with care.

💭 Compassion sounds like:
“I did the best I could with what I knew.”
“That makes sense, given what I was feeling.”
“I don’t have to be perfect to be loveable.”

🌱 Compassion is the space we return to when the rest of us is unraveling.
It’s the thing that holds the system steady, when nothing else can.

✨ What would it feel like to offer yourself the same tenderness you give to everyone else?

🩷 Drop a 🩷 if compassion is something you’re learning to practice, with yourself, or someone you love.

💗 Love isn’t just a feeling, it’s a risk. And a return. 💗

Love begins when we allow ourselves to soften.
When we let the guard down, even just a little.
When we say, “Here I am… please be kind.”

Love isn’t always romantic.
Sometimes it’s the way we offer ourselves grace.
The way we show up for a friend.
The way we stay present, even when it hurts.

👉 Fear says: “If I open, I’ll lose control.”
👉 Love replies: “If I stay closed, I’ll never feel it.”

Love lives in the moment after vulnerability,
when we don’t know how we’ll be received,
but we stay open anyway.

It’s not always butterflies and big feelings.
💭 Sometimes, love is a daily choice.
💭 Sometimes, it’s quiet and consistent.
💭 Sometimes, it’s how we keep showing up, even when it’s hard.

💗 Love looks like:
• Speaking gently to your own inner world
• Offering care with no strings attached
• Staying soft when it would be easier to shut down
• Letting someone really see you
• Allowing joy to be felt fully, even if it might not last.

You don’t have to prove you’re worthy of love.
You already are.
And when you lead with love, for yourself and others, connection becomes possible.

✨ Where in your life are you ready to receive love, not just give it?
✨ And what might it feel like to choose love, today?

Went for a walk with my cuppa this morning and found 6 different species of mushrooms 🍄 and some eucalypt saplings that had sprouted around the dam.

Active mindfulness for me = slow walking in nature, feet on country, drinking my cuppa and noticing my environment with all my senses 💚✨️🌄

As a therapist with lived neurodiverse experience - Yep, I'm ADHD and so are my kiddos. I need to write ✍️ everything down unless it's something that I'm hyperfocused on. Lucky that's art therapy, otherwise, we'd be in trouble 😅

In all seriousness, though, using tools 🔧 to help our neurodiverse brains to function in our everyday life is super important. And there are many out there, it's overwhelming! 😳

But I find the ones that stick 🟨 for a neurodiverse brain are the ones you come up with yourself 💡, using your creative mind in session to find a solution that is the right fit for you.... and believe me, I've tried a lot 🙉

Being able to use our creative, think outside the box 📦 minds is a powerful tool. During our sessions, we tap into that super power 🦸‍♂️ 🦸‍♀️ and find indiviulised solutions to help improve our function and capacity 🌟
