Scarring is an inevitable part of surgery. If you are concerned about the prominence of scarring post surgery, it is important to note these three common factors that can worsen breast augmentation scars:

📌 Excess tension or movement during healing
Too much stretching, heavy activity, or inadequate support (like not wearing a supportive bra) can pull on the incision and cause wider or thicker scars.

📌 Sun exposure
UV exposure can darken scars and make them more noticeable, especially in the first 6–12 months after surgery.

📌 Poor post-operative wound care or infection
Delayed healing, infection, or not following post-operative care instructions can lead to raised, thickened, or irregular scarring.

Hello October! 🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month – an annual campaign to raise awareness and draw attention to the ongoing impact of breast cancer on thousands of people everyday.

Regular self-examinations are essential for the early detection of breast cancer, and adult women (and men!) of all ages are encouraged to perform breast self-exams at least once a month.

So today, on the first day of October, we just wanted to drop in and remind you, your friends and family to – your reminder to self-examine your breasts for any unusual changes 👐🏼

And remember, if you do find something that may be of concern, or notice any changes in your breasts, we encourage you to see your GP immediately. Breast self-examination should be done in addition to, and not as a substitute for yearly breast examinations. Breast screening mammograms are recommended every two years (these are available through BreastScreen QLD).
