Meet the CEO – And The Human Behind It

Hi, I’m Ammie.
I’m the CEO of My Way Collective.
But before I was a CEO, I was and still am a mum.
A mum navigating a late diagnosis.
A mum advocating in schools.
Sitting in pediatric appointments.
Speaking to the guidance officers.
Answering all the "it's not a good day" call's.
Fighting for the right therapies.
Explaining behavioral concerns over and over again.

Any parent raising a child with additional needs knows the weight of that.
The meetings.
The calls.
The reports.
The judgment.
The exhaustion.

I built My Way Collective while living that reality.
I know what it’s like to try and build a career while your child is struggling.
I know what it feels like to sit in front of professionals and feel unheard.
I know the frustration of systems that nod politely but don’t take action.
I know the feeling of the appointments adding more weight than actually helping.

And I also know what it feels like to be the one in crisis.
I’ve sat in front of caseworkers.
I’ve applied for support myself.
I’ve navigated DCJ.
I’ve navigated the court system.
I’ve raised and continue to raise four children on my own.
I’ve carried financial pressure, emotional pressure and the quiet weight that many families never speak about.

So yes, I understand policy.
I understand compliance.
I understand quality and safeguarding requirements.
But more importantly?
I understand real life.
I understand what it feels like to be judged.
I understand what it feels like to be overwhelmed.
I understand staying quiet because you feel its just too much for anyone else to hear.
I understand what it feels like to need someone to just take a small part of the load off.

My Way Collective was built on that understanding.
We don’t see “participants.”
We don't see large numbers and a "minimum hours" service agreement.
We see people.
We see families.
We see capacity that fluctuates.
We see strength that doesn’t always look strong.

And we don’t sit there nodding.
We act.
If you’ve ever felt dismissed, unheard or judged in this system, you’re not alone.

And you deserve better.

— Ammie

🌟 Finding His Independence: Clayton’s Journey

At just 24 years old, Clayton is living proof that with the right support, strong determination and a big heart anything is possible.
Clayton has been working with My Way Collective over the past few years to build his independence and what a journey it’s been.

From small everyday steps to major life milestones, Clayton’s story is one of resilience, growth and personal achievement.

With the support of his team, Clayton has maintained long-term supported employment, giving him financial stability, routine and a strong sense of pride. He recently made another big move, relocating into shared accommodation with a close friend, marking an exciting step toward even greater independence.

Sport has always been a big part of Clayton’s life. He continues to actively compete in ten pin bowling, a passion that keeps him connected to his community and allows him to shine both socially and competitively.

And this October, Clayton will proudly represent New South Wales in a disability bowling championship, an incredible achievement that reflects years of commitment and hard work.

But perhaps the most exciting chapter? Clayton recently proposed to his long-term girlfriend, and she said yes! The couple are now planning their future together, building a life grounded in shared goals and independence.

Clayton’s journey is a reminder of what can be achieved through person-centred support, community connection and belief in someone’s potential.

We are incredibly proud of Clayton and can’t wait to see what’s next!
