🤔 Fun Fact Friday 💜
Did you know that hiccups can happen when the temperature in your digestive system suddenly changes?
That’s why you might get hiccups after drinking something really cold, eating something spicy, or even laughing while eating!
Your diaphragm (the muscle that helps you breathe) reacts - and that sudden “hic!” is the result. Our bodies are full of little mysteries like this!

🎄💪 Time to Get Christmas Fit! 💪🎄
With Christmas just around the corner, the HEEA team is officially in pre-season training!
We’re stretching, strengthening, and preparing for all the very serious festive tasks ahead…
✔️ Untangling fairy lights (a true test of patience + grip strength)
✔️ Wrapping presents (fine motor mastery at its peak)
✔️ Carrying the shopping bags in one trip (because we refuse to go back to the car 😆)
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing our top tips for getting Christmas Fit - a fun, festive twist on functional movement and everyday skills.
Get ready for therapy-meets-holiday-humour - because at HEEA, we’re all about skills, smiles and a little seasonal silliness.

Oliver had a fantastic session this week, full of creativity, movement, and skill-building!
First, he completed a beautiful watercolour activity, matching numbers and colours while building his fine motor skills for everyday tasks.
Then it was time for a penguin hunt + obstacle course - the perfect way to practise:
✅ Coordination
✅ Proprioception (body awareness)
✅ Attention & concentration
✅ Balance & safety skills
And of course… we finished with some teamwork as Oliver helped pick up the ball pit balls - we love a helpful legend! 💜
Amazing work, Oliver - you nailed both the fun and the focus! 👏

Our Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) don’t work alone - they’re part of a supportive, collaborative team!
Working closely with our Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, and Physiotherapists, our AHAs help bring therapy plans to life, ensuring every session is person-centred, practical, and purposeful.
It’s this teamwork that helps participants build confidence, achieve goals, and make real progress - one session at a time.

🧠 Fun Fact Friday 💜
Did you know your right kidney sits slightly lower than your left one?
That’s because your liver (which is larger and sits on the right side of your body) takes up extra space - gently nudging the right kidney down a little lower.
Our bodies are so clever in how they’re designed, everything fits together just right! 👏
