As we close the door on this year at The Place, we’re holding a lot of gratitude.

This year wasn’t about perfection.
It was about people.

About showing up when things were hard.
Holding space for big feelings.
Celebrating brave first steps, quiet wins, and moments of growth that mattered deeply — even when no one else could see them.

We’ve had the privilege of walking alongside children, teens, adults, and families through joy, challenge, change, and everything in between. We’ve grown together — expanding our team, strengthening our foundations, and continuing to shape neuro-affirming, family-centred support across clinics, homes, schools, and communities.

Good news! We currently have immediate Speech Pathology capacity, including support for communication, language, social connection, and swallowing/mealtime needs. 💬✨ We don’t often have immediate availability, so we’re glad to open up this window of support for our community.

If you’ve been considering Speech services, or you’re new to The Place and exploring support options, now is a great time to reach out. We have speechies that work with kids, teens and adults!

We’ve created a simple, family-friendly menu to help you get the most out of your sessions — including ways to maximise those sometimes limited Medicare rebates while keeping everything fair and consistent for all families at The Place.

We’ve also added a quick guide on how to get a Medicare referral through your GP, paediatrician, or psychiatrist (including the 5 EPC/CDM sessions and the 20-session autism/developmental plan).

We now support safe, confident eating and drinking right in your home environment — perfect for individuals needing help with swallowing safety or mealtime participation.

Here’s what’s included:
• A functional swallowing assessment
• A mealtime safety review during a typical meal/snack
• Clear recommendations for food textures and fluid consistencies
• Carer education and practical support
• A personalised Mealtime Management Plan (valid for 12 months)
