🌸 October is World Menopause Month 🌸

Menopause is a natural stage of life, but it doesn’t have to be faced alone.

October is International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.

This October, we pause to acknowledge the deep and often silent grief experienced by families who have lost a pregnancy, a baby, or an infant.

1 in 4 pregnancies ends in loss. Behind each statistic is a family carrying the weight of heartache, love, and memories that will last a lifetime. Whether the loss happened recently or many years ago, the pain is real and enduring.

At our clinic, we stand in support of every parent, partner, and family who has experienced this unimaginable loss. You are not alone, and your grief is valid.

Let this month be a reminder to:
💜 Honour the little lives gone too soon
💬 Open up conversations around pregnancy and infant loss
🤝 Offer support without judgment or expectations

To anyone who has experienced this kind of loss: we see you, we remember your babies, and we’re here to support you.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Each October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month serves as a powerful reminder of the impact this disease continues to have on Australians. Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers in our community, affecting thousands of lives every year.

More than 21,000 Australians (including around 200 men) will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
On average, 58 people are diagnosed every single day.
Sadly, over 3,300 lives are lost each year, including around 33 men.

While survival rates have improved significantly (rising from 76% in 1994 to 92% today), there is still work to do.

The goal is ambitious but vital: zero deaths from breast cancer. That means pushing further with research to support those who fall outside that survival rate.
Breast cancer research in Australia is driven by the generosity of our communities.

Donations help fund critical research in prevention, early detection, better treatments, and improved quality of life for those affected.

This month, let’s raise awareness, show support, and continue working towards a future free from breast cancer.

Dear Patients,

Regarding the recent controversy announced publicly in the USA about the link between antenatal paracetamol use and risk of Autism.

Please read the important update from our National Obstetric College RANZCOG: https://ranzcog.edu.au/news/paracetamol-use-in-pregnancy/ firmly refuting these claims.

Please feel confident to continue paracetamol as needed, within the usual recommended dosage.

Kind regards,
TasWomen

RANZCOG dismisses claims linking pregnancy paracetamol use in pregnancy to neurodivergence.

Support Mental Health & Women's Wellbeing this Liptember!

This September, join us in supporting Liptember- a campaign dedicated to raising awareness
and funds for women’s mental health.

Our very own GP Dr Amy Edler, is proudly participating to support mental health services for women. Every donation counts, and you can help make a real difference!

How can you get involved? It's simple:
1. Donate via this link https://www.liptember.com.au/donate or scan the QR code.
2. Share the love by spreading awareness—every bit helps in breaking the stigma around mental health.

🧠Why it matters:
• 1 in 5 women experience mental health challenges, but many don’t get the help they need.
• With your help, we can support vital programs, services, and research focused on improving women's mental health across Australia.

Let’s make mental health a priority - together, we can empower women to get the support they deserve!💜

Check in. Not just today, but any day.

While Thursday 11 September marks R U OK? Day, the reality is that life’s challenges don’t stick to a calendar.
Every day, the people around us (whether they're friends, family, partners, or coworkers), can be going through tough times. That’s why it’s important to keep the conversation going all year round.

At TasWomen we believe that a simple “Are you OK?” can make a real difference. Regular check-ins can boost someone’s sense of wellbeing, and many Australians have already embraced this, making it a part of their everyday lives.

Even if you’re unsure how to start or worry about saying the wrong thing, know this: most people appreciate being asked and feel more supported when someone shows they care.

You don’t need to have all the answers. Just being there and starting the conversation is enough.

Let’s keep looking out for one another - not just on R U OK? Day, but every day.

Today is Rainbow Baby Day 🌈

A “rainbow baby” is the baby born after the heartbreaking loss of another. Just like a rainbow after a storm, they bring hope and light — while never replacing the love and memory of the baby who came before. 🌈

We honour all the precious rainbow babies who have brought joy after loss.

At the same time, we acknowledge that not every bereaved parent feels comfortable with the term “rainbow baby” — and that’s okay, too. Every family’s journey through grief, love, and new beginnings is unique and deeply personal. 💜

Today, we hold space for all parents and all babies — those who are here, those who came before, and those we carry forever in our hearts.

Share with us the name of your rainbow baby and their big brother or sister who will forever watch over them.

National Pain Week

At TasWomen, we acknowledge the often invisible but very real pain many women live with every day.

Chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis, vulvodynia, and other gynaecological conditions can impact not just physical health- but emotional wellbeing, relationships, work, and daily life.

💬 Pain is personal and it’s valid, even if it’s hard to see.
💡 Research shows that persistent pain is complex and needs a multidisciplinary approach. That’s why support from your GP, gynaecologist, pelvic floor physio, psychologist, and other allied health professionals can be key to managing it.

This week, we’re joining the conversation to help reduce stigma, raise awareness, and promote compassion for those experiencing pain.
