CAIRS for Victorians Living with Keratoconus 👁️

Nexus's premier eye hospital, Manningham Private Hospital is proud to offer CAIRS surgery - an eye procedure that’s reshaping how we treat keratoconus, a condition that causes the thinning and bulging of the cornea, leading to blurry vision. Instead of synthetic ring segments, CAIRS uses corneal donor segments to improve the shape of the cornea, leading to improved vision.

This marks an exciting milestone in vision care for Victoria, and Manningham Private couldn’t be prouder to be the first Victorian hospital to offer this ground-breaking procedure in partnership with ophthalmologists Dr Wong, A/Professor Chong and Dr P**n.

Westside Private Hospital Introduces VELYS Robotic Technology, Advancing Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) and No-Gap Joint Replacement Care

Westside Private Hospital, part of the Nexus Hospitals network, has achieved a significant milestone in orthopaedic care with the introduction of the VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution in its short-stay surgical unit - a level of technological sophistication usually reserved for large or tertiary hospitals.

This positions Westside among the first short-stay hospitals in Queensland to deliver robotic precision in joint replacement surgery.

Earlier this month, orthopaedic surgeon Dr Cameron Cooke performed the hospital’s first robotic-assisted joint replacement, demonstrating Westside’s commitment to combining advanced technology with a patient-focused, streamlined model of care. The VELYS system provides real-time intraoperative insights, enabling surgeons to place implants with exceptional accuracy.

At Nexus Hospitals, exceptional patient care goes beyond clinical outcomes - it’s about the whole experience. We’re proud to share that Nexus has achieved an NPS of 85 in 2025 — a strong reflection of how our patients feel in our care.

NPS may be a metric, but in healthcare it represents something deeply human: whether patients feel supported, respected, and confident enough to recommend their experience to someone they care about.

With NPS scores ranging from 75 to 92 across our national network — and 19 of our hospitals reaching world class levels — this result speaks to the shared and collective effort of our teams across Australia. We couldn’t be prouder of the way our people continue to listen, learn, and improve our patients’ experience.

👁️ World Glaucoma Week 2026 | 8–14 March

This week we recognise World Glaucoma Week 2026 – a global initiative led by the World Glaucoma Association to raise awareness about glaucoma and the importance of early detection in preventing avoidable blindness.

Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness worldwide. Often referred to as the “silent thief of sight”, it can develop gradually and without noticeable symptoms until permanent vision loss has occurred. The encouraging news is that with early diagnosis and appropriate treatment, vision loss can often be slowed or prevented.

Across our national network of hospitals, Nexus is proud to partner with leading specialist ophthalmologists who are transforming the way glaucoma is diagnosed and treated. From advanced diagnostic technology to innovative surgical techniques, our teams deliver high-quality, patient-centred care that helps protect and preserve sight for the communities we serve.

This week is a timely reminder:
✨ Early detection matters – Regular comprehensive eye examinations are essential, particularly for people over 40 or those with a family history of glaucoma.
✨ Informed patients achieve better outcomes – Open conversations with your healthcare provider are key.
✨ Awareness saves sight– Sharing knowledge empowers individuals and families to prioritise their eye health.

At Nexus Hospitals, we see firsthand the life-changing impact of early intervention and specialist care. We are incredibly proud of our teams and clinicians across every site who are committed to protecting vision and improving patient outcomes every day. As a leading provider of comprehensive eye care services in Australia, our commitment to personalised patient care sets us apart.

Let’s use World Glaucoma Week 2026 to champion eye health, support early detection, and help ensure sight is protected for all. 💙

Our thoughts are with the Bundaberg community as the region faces significant flooding following days of heavy rainfall across Queensland.

Authorities have issued evacuation warnings in parts of Bundaberg as the Burnett River rises, with hundreds of homes and businesses expected to be impacted and many residents already isolated due to road closures and flooding.

At Nexus Hospitals, we are thinking of our colleagues, patients and the wider community in Bundaberg during this challenging time. We know how resilient regional communities are, and we are incredibly grateful to the healthcare workers, emergency services and volunteers supporting people on the ground.

Our priority remains the safety and wellbeing of our teams and patients, and we stand with the Bundaberg community as they navigate the days ahead.

☀️ National Skin Cancer Action Week is a timely reminder for all Australians to protect their skin and prioritise regular skin checks.

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world — yet most cases can be prevented by following the five forms of sun protection:
🧴 Slip on sun-protective clothing
🕶️ Slop on SPF30+ broad-spectrum sunscreen
👒 Slap on a wide-brimmed hat
🌳 Seek shade
🌤️ Slide on sunglasses

The health and well-being of our people and patients is always our highest priority. Across our national hospital network, we continue to provide specialised skin surgery services — including dermatology and Mohs surgery, reconstructive plastic surgery and oculoplastic surgery — to deliver the best clinical and cosmetic outcomes for our patients.

Meet our national network of specialists who offer skin surgery services here 👇

As summer approaches, it’s a great time to check in on your sun safety habits, book a skin check and encourage others to do the same.

Each November, people around the world 🌎 unite to raise awareness and funds for men’s health through Movember - focusing on mental health and su***de prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.

Our hospital is proud to support this important cause. Movember isn’t just about growing a moustache it’s about starting conversations that can save lives and reminding one another that it’s okay to talk about health, both physical and mental.

Across our national hospital network, team members are getting involved by growing a mo, hosting events, and spreading awareness. Whether it’s a freshly sprouted moustache, a walk with colleagues, or a chat over coffee ☕ about mental wellbeing, every action makes a difference.

Here’s how you can join in:
〰️ Grow: Sport your mo proudly this Movember.
〰️ Move: Run, walk, cycle, or swim 60km for the 60 men lost to su***de every hour across the globe.
〰️ Host: Bring people together from morning teas to team challenges to spark meaningful conversations.
〰️ Donate: Support a colleague or contribute directly at movember.com.

Together, we can help change the face of men’s health one conversation, one moustache, and one movement at a time 💚
