CenoTas

CenoTas CenoTas is a bold, innovative, fully developed and costed project designed to address the real healthcare issues facing Tasmania.

The development will see a new health precinct built in, under and around the Cenotaph area of Hobart with a new Royal Hobart Hospital as its centrepiece. It will include:

-A new 620 bed Royal Hobart Hospital (500 beds in main hospital, 120 in hotel)
-A 320-bed, 5 star hotel built adjacent
-Medical consulting suites for visiting health and medical professionals and others
-New private hospital
-New RSL museum
-New infrastructure for the Regatta Association and the public foreshore area including new facilities for boating, rowing and recreational enjoyment. CenoTas is backed by a team with a proven track record in major health infrastructure projects in Australiasia. There are four lead consortium members:

-SolutionsWon - Project Leaders,
-The Plenary Group - Finance partners,
-Herbert Smith Freehills - Legal Partner,
-Silver Thomas Hanley - international architecture health care designers;

The total investment for the development is around $2.4 billion, of which the Royal Hobart Hospital is $780 million. The hotel, private hospital and consulting suites will be privately funded and not require any public money. The Royal Hobart Hospital will be owned by the State Government and the repayments funded out of savings from the move to a new greenfield site.

THE State Government has made a monumental mistake in rejecting the proposed CenoTas plan for a brand new hospital on the Domain.

What is important to know about this project that the finance for the hotel, private hospital, medical administration centre was all from the Private Sector. The financial offer to the Government on the RHH was for them to look at the best possible model for Tasmania. It could be partially funded or totally funded but that was up to the Government to review and work with the team on the best path forward. We will keep progressing discussion on the other areas of the site as our key stakeholders of the RSL and the Royal Hobart Regatta Association want us to do so. The new low level hotel was introduced prior to our public launch to give the final structure that covered everyone's concerns for the Cenotaph and the Queen's Domain. We will keep you posted as we move forward.
