BOOK REVIEW 📚
We love a good book around here, and the lovely Natalie — author of My Busy Brain — reached out and sent us a copy of her recently published book.
This is such a beautiful, child-friendly book that helps reframe how we talk to our little people with busy brains. Instead of focusing on what’s “hard” or “wrong,” it gently explains how different brains work, what a busy brain can feel like, and why some days can be trickier than others — all in a way that feels respectful, reassuring, and empowering for kids.
Natalie and I have also talked about how changing the way we speak about medication — and educating children about what it’s for and how it helps — can make a huge difference to a child’s understanding, self-esteem, and sense of agency. This book does that so thoughtfully and compassionately.
I especially love that it:
✨ Normalises different brains
✨ Uses simple, validating language
✨ Helps kids build insight into their own experiences
✨ Supports parents, educators, and therapists to have better conversations
✨ Feels strengths-based, not deficit-based
This is a gorgeous addition to any home, classroom, or therapy space — especially for children who are learning about attention, regulation, big feelings, and how their brain works.
Highly recommend adding this one to your bookshelf 🧠💛
