Dear Patients,

From 1st November 2025, the Federal Government has introduced a program called the Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program. This initiative provides an extra incentive payment to practices that bulk bill all eligible services for all patients.

We support any measures that aims to make healthcare more affordable and sustainable. However, we want to explain why our practice will not be moving to 100% bulk billing and will continue with mixed billing.

💁Why we cannot move to 100% bulk billing

1️⃣The Medicare rebate + incentive still falls short of the actual cost to provide a safe, high-quality consultation.
2️⃣Practices that join the new program must bulk bill all services, which removes the flexibility to charge appropriately for complex care, procedures and spend more time with patients and not rush through appointments.
3️⃣We are already and will continue to Bulk Bill up to 60% of our patients. If we Bulk Billed everyone we would have to move to a 6-minute medicine model. Which means no long appointments, services cut, and you would need to make multiple appointments to discuss your healthcare.
This is not the type of medicine we practice or that our patients deserve.

🍎Our Mixed Billing model allows us to:

✅Spend more time with patients
✅Maintain experienced doctors and nursing staff
✅Continue investing in modern facilities and high-quality care
✅Keep bulk billing available for those most in need

We truly appreciate your understanding and continued trust. We’re committed to providing our community with accessible, compassionate and sustainable healthcare.

Skin Check Myth-Busters

Myth: "I don’t need a skin check because I always wear sunscreen."
Truth: Sunscreen reduces risk but doesn’t eliminate it. Regular skin checks are still essential. 🌞

Myth: "Skin cancer spots are always dark or obvious."
Truth: Skin cancers can be pink, red, pale, or flesh-coloured—sometimes they look like harmless blemishes. Only a GP or skin doctor can tell for sure.

Myth: "I’ve never been badly sunburnt, so I won’t get skin cancer."
Truth: Even everyday sun exposure adds up over time. Skin checks are important for everyone.

Myth: "Skin cancer only affects older people."
Truth: Melanoma is one of the most common cancers in young Australians (especially under 40). Regular checks are vital at any age. 👩‍🦱👨‍🦱

Myth: "I’ve had a skin check before, so I don’t need another one."
Truth: Skin changes can develop quickly. Annual (or more frequent) checks are recommended. 🗓️

Myth: "I tan easily, so I won’t get skin cancer."
Truth: Tanning is a sign of skin damage. Even if you don’t burn, your skin is still at risk. 🔥
