🌞 Pampering Sessions at AEE 🌞

With the warmer weather here, we’ve been taking advantage of it by supporting the horses to become more comfortable with being hosed and bathed. This is an important part of their handling, helping them learn to stand calmly, respond to cues, and build trust in everyday care routines.

It’s also a great opportunity for both the participant and the horse to stay comfortable during the heat while practising safe and gentle care.

Simon finished off his pampering session with a kind, gentle hug ,the perfect way to end a session.

Each session begins with connection, meeting the horse where they are at, and meeting the participant exactly where they are too. There is no rush and no expectations… just space to settle, regulate, and move together with intention.

In a collaborative decision, we chose a gentle walk down to the channel with Simon, it was exactly what was needed. This simple moment is actually an important part of his training, supporting his confidence, emotional regulation, and ability to stay connected while exploring new environments. For the participant, it offers grounding, calm, and shared purpose.

At AEE, sessions are shaped around the emotional needs of both horse and human. When we allow the session to unfold at their pace, the therapeutic value in even the smallest moments becomes truly powerful. ✨

🌟 SIMON IS LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME 🌟
I’m sharing this post on behalf of Simon’s owner, who due to circumstances outside of her control, is needing to find him a new home.

Simon is a special, quirky boy with loads of personality, yet he’s steady and slow in nature. He’s best suited to someone with basic horse knowledge who can appreciate his unique history, he hasn’t always had the nicest experiences, but he has come a long way.

Simon was part of the Horses for Hope program for many years, where he learned to trust humans again, gained confidence, and picked up lots of new skills. He proudly graduated in March 2024.

Simon is in his mid-teens and would thrive in a gentle, understanding home as a wonderful paddock companion, an easygoing in-hand partner for a child or adult, or a cute little lawn mower as he isn't educated under saddle. Simon won’t go to just anyone, the right match is important for both him and his future human.

If you think you might be the right fit for Simon, or would like more information, please feel free to get in touch by DM or give me a call on 0417288042.

🌟 Weekend Achievement for Breeze! 🌟

Over the weekend, Breeze made a huge achievement, she attended her very first clinic! The clinic was run by April Harvey whose methods blend beautifully with what we do here at Alison’s Equine Embrace.

Breeze stepped into a big group for the first time and handled it like a little pro. She tackled a whole range of obstacles, majority completely new to her. Some of the moving obstacles were tricky, and she definitely had moments where she struggled to regulate herself… but she tried her heart out every single time.

The part that meant the most? She trusted me. She leaned into my support, knowing she wasn’t alone and that I was her safe person. ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who has worked with Breeze, from our Horses for Hope days right through to her more recent journey with Alison's Equine Embrace. Every session, every interaction, every little moment has led to this one:

✨ The moment she stepped outside her comfort zone, trusted humans for safety and comfort, and showed us just how far she’s come in her ability to self-regulate. ✨

I couldn’t be prouder of this girl!

Definitely not my proudest moment… but today I managed to run over one of the horse feeders. Yes, I didn't see it and actually ran it over. 🙈🚗💥🐴
The wildest part? The thing didn’t even flinch. Not a crack, not a bend, nothing.
I swear the company that makes these feeders should hire me as their official durability tester, if it survives me, it’ll survive anything! 💪
I had to get the car jack to get the thing out 😂

🌟Where Are they Now? Alex update straight from his owner✨

The Hall family in Toolamba happy adopted Alex in June this year. He quickly became a very well loved family member.

Alex is paddock buddies with our daughters thoroughbred Frankie, but most importantly enjoys regular rides with our 5 year old George.

Alex is a very well mannered and patient little guy.

Today he visited Toolamba kindergarten for a little pat with the students and talk of how to be safe around horses. He was very well behaved.

He regularly sees the farrier and has had a recent dentist checkup, who said he had a very healthy mouthful of choppers.

Thank you for trusting Alex with us, we love him!

Gem had a bit of bad luck recently when a storm rolled in and she panicked, crashing through a gate. Thankfully, she only came away with some bruising to her back legs and a little hair missing on her chest 💛

The progress she’d made with feeling comfortable around straps and rugs has gone a little backwards, but even on a hard day, she was able to learn something new, getting to know what a fly veil is!

It was a steady, gentle process, but we got there. 🌿
A lovely reminder that even when things feel tough, small steps forward still count. 🌤️

There’s so much we can learn and take away from our interactions with horses, they truly are incredible teachers. 🐎✨

Gem’s Progress 🐴💛
Gem’s journey has had its ups and downs lately, especially with her catching progress taking a few steps backwards which is usually apart of progress.

I decided to simply spend some quiet time with her, just hanging out in the paddock while she ate, surrounded by plenty of grass. It wasn’t about doing or asking anything, just being together in the moment.

Sometimes, the most meaningful progress happens in those calm, non-demanding moments of just being.
