Ever noticed differences in your pelvic floor function throughout your menstrual cycle?

Yep it's a thing. The pelvic floor is a group of muscles and the strength of them can be impacted by the change in our hormone levels across our cycle.

It's okay to adjust our exercise accordingly whether that be the intensity, the duration or the type of exercise we choose. There's always an option that can still help us move well and become stronger.

Is this news to you?

PS. If you're keen to exercise from you lounge room like I just did and have someone provide all the options for you. Join us in the Mum Movement Hub. Your live & on-demand exercise space hosted by 7 Specialised personal trainers.

πŸ’« one more sleep πŸ’«Β

There's been many times in my life when I have chosen to exercise at home (I still do depending on what's going on) whether because of energy levels, schedules, nap times, work commitments or simply because I've felt more comfortable in my home.

My belief is that exercise is an epic tool that supports us in such a unique and powerful way and also, I know there can be very real and understandable barriers that may get in the way.Β

For a long time I've been wondering how I could remove barriers for women to exercise, provide access to specialized support along with a community in which we can be ourselves and go for the goals we want to achieve.Β

Turns out, this was not a dream that I've had alone but a dream shared by a beautiful team of MumSafe Trainers. So we've collaborated in bringing you The Mum Movement Hub.Β

As a member of The Mum Movement Hub you'll get:
✨ Live online workouts 5 days/week
✨ Access to all recordings to exercise whenever you like.
✨ Private group so you can connect, learn & be accountable.
✨ Support from a team of Personal Trainers
✨ Access anywhere you have the Internet
✨ A welcoming space that embraces all bodies, all women, all abilities and all fitness levels.

This quote has been coming up since I saw it on the side of a huge RV named "Rain Dancer" parked alongside us at the beach side campground we stayed at while we were away. It was quite fitting really as we witnessed our first big storm of our trip that evening.

I'm not sure if I've shared with you yet about my focus for this year being 'spaciousness.' Having time away allowed me, for the first time in a long time, to start to unwind. No reception, no timelines or deadlines, no rushing.

I get that "this is what holidays are for", but it was also a stark reminder for me that my body and mind does not thrive in a chronically stressed state (to be clear, know ones does.) Knowing this commitment feels important this year. I've had to make some hard decisions which have freaked me out and popped me into the unknown - yes this is scary and hard but so is the alternative of staying in a state knowing it's not good for my physical or mental health.

I've decided to learn to dance in the rain rather than drowning in the puddles it makes. Things happen to us all the time, many of which we may not see coming and so setting up a sustainable rhythm in our lives that actually supports us is crucial for living and feeling well.Β Β

As Mums, we have so much going on in our lives, we're so willing to put others first, many of us want to be perfect at everything (that's another post) and to please everybody but let's not do that at the expense of ourselves anymore.

Let's learn to dance in the rain and not drown in the puddles.Β

πŸ’« Let's remember the No is a full sentence.

πŸ€— Let's remember that a good community is really important.

πŸ™ Let's remember to make changes to our schedule where we can so that it supports us in a healthy way.

πŸ™Œ Let's remember that we don't belong at the bottom of the priority list and that we're worth investing in time, money and energy in.

πŸ’ƒπŸΌSo Mama, will you learn to dance in the rain this year?

Life lately...

We've celebrated Christmas & New Year's roaming around national parks, seeing beautiful cliffs, beaches, sand dunes & waterholes, testing out new roller blades, wondering if raw carrots give everyone hiccups or if it's just me (pic 6), had a fancy lunch with delicious wine & some gluten free beer. It's been good.

We've had a few small blunders which is to be expected with any adventure and a few conversations about all being thoughtful of each other as we live in a tiny space together. 🀣

I've been reading a lot and letting words sink in for me, words that I feel are important and helpful and I'm so happy to let them sit with me for a while until I see where they take me.

We've been walking and climbing and I've squeezed a few workouts in and as I'm writing we've just realized we haven't got anywhere to park and stay tonight so we're off to sort that out 🀣 πŸ‘
