📢 Important Announcement from Kangaroo Island Medical Clinic 📢
From 1st November 2025, Kangaroo Island Medical Clinic will become a Bulk Billing practice for all standard GP consultations — made possible through expanded support from the Australian Government and Medicare.
💙 This change reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of our community. We understand that access to affordable healthcare is essential, and we’re proud to take this step to reduce financial barriers for our patients.
🔍 What will be bulk billed?
Eligible patients will no longer have out-of-pocket costs for standard GP services, including:
• General consultations
• Mental health care plans
• Chronic disease management plans
• Health assessments (e.g. 45–49 year old checks, over 75s health checks)
• GP Management Plans and Team Care Arrangements
• Care coordination for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients
• Routine follow-ups and prescription reviews
💡 What will still incur a private fee?
• Diagnostic and procedural services (e.g. ECGs, minor surgeries, wound suturing, cryotherapy)
• Consumables (e.g. dressings, vaccines, medical supplies used during your visit)
• All services provided before 1st November 2025 will still require payment in full
⚠️ Please note:
This change is only possible while government support remains in place. To ensure long-term sustainability, it is essential that this support is indexed to keep pace with rising costs and inflation. If funding is reduced or fails to reflect the true cost of delivering care, we may need to return to private billing .
