As one chapter closes and another begins, many young people are standing at the edge of something new. Exiting Year 12 is more than just the end of school. It is the beginning of a journey filled with choice, discovery, and growth. For young people like Jaleesa, this transition is also about exploring independence, building confidence, and discovering the right support to achieve their goals.

What lies on the horizon looks different for everyone. Some are ready to step into their first job, while others are continuing training, study, or developing life skills that prepare them for future opportunities. Many are readily open to work and excited to contribute their talents to the community. No matter the path, this moment into the workforce is about courage, curiosity, and believing that the future is full of possibility. 🌷

💦 A Big Day for Angie! This week marked a huge milestone for Angie, her first time in the pool since her stroke. With the support of our dedicated team Poppy and Megan Dunlop Physiotherapy, Angie was able to return to the water, and the smile on her face said it all. Moments like these are what make our work so meaningful... Poppy support staff are now being trained to safely assist Angie in the pool on their own, which will give her even more freedom and confidence in the months ahead. This is what progress looks like, step by step, with care, encouragement, and teamwork. 🧡

☕ 🏁 Renny’s Day at Garage 25 Café

Yesterday was all about good coffee, great company, and a bit of retail therapy. Renny enjoyed a visit to Garage 25 Café on the Gold Coast, a favourite local spot filled with classic cars and good vibes. After morning tea, he spent some time doing one of his favourite activities, shopping.

Outings like these are more than just a day out. They build confidence, independence, and give our participants the chance to enjoy the community in their own way. We love seeing Renny doing what he enjoys most and living life to the fullest. 🧡

Celebrating Angie’s 58th Birthday 🎂🎈🎉

We had such a lovely afternoon celebrating Angie’s 58th birthday at our SIL house in Glenella. The day was filled with laughter, homemade pizza, and cake made by our amazing support workers and a little help from my kids.

It was extra special to have the kids join in to celebrate one of their favourite humans. Days like this remind us that care is about connection, joy, and creating moments that make life feel full. Happy Birthday, Angie! 💛🧡💜

Jaleesa is developing a wide range of real-world and employability skills that are preparing her for success as she steps into the workforce. Through hands-on learning and practical experience, Jaleesa is building confidence, professionalism, and independence. Her days are filled with opportunities to strengthen communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while learning the importance of time management and responsibility. Jaleesa is also growing her understanding of workplace expectations, goal setting, and financial literacy, all of which contribute to her readiness for full-time employment. With Poppy Community Care by her side, Jaleesa is not only gaining new experiences but also has the support needed to finish year 12 and thrive in her future career.
