Cape Crusaders

Well it's been a long 14 months since we returned from our Cape York adventure. We basically got home, parked the bikes up and got stuck back into our daily lives. When we say we parked the bikes up, we mean that literally, they have not been ridden or even washed for that matter. So today we decided to give the KLRs a run and get stuck into some maintenance. Believe it or not , the bikes started in true KLR form. We still have footage and pics to go through from our trip , and apologies for anyone who has been waiting, We just haven't had time yet to piece it together , but we will get there eventually.

Day 20 - We are home ........ 6642km we notched up, officially finishing the journey where we took off from , Maryborough West State School, where 28 years ago a promise was made. This journey tested our strengths, weaknesses, physical and mental capabilities and friendships. We left bright eyed and bushy tailed, full of hope, determination and enthusiasm, we return broken, battered, bruised and exhausted, but with a greater sense of gratitude, Knowledge, self belief and fulfilment.

Along our journey we met so many wonderful people who not only shared their own stories, but helped us out, traveled along with us, camped with us, supplied us with parts, opened their home and cooked for us. Huge shout out to Jordan, Roy and Renae K***a, Mitch, Tracy and Mason , Tom and Angela and Brendan...We can't thank you all enough for your support and hospitality. We will definitely stay in touch and look forward to catching up with all of you in the near future.

We look forward to sharing the next part of this adventure, a full debriefing and summary of our bikes, gear and travel routes of this experience.

Day 19 - Just another travel day for us, Left Townsville early and finished the day at Marlborough Hotel. Had a feed and a shower and fell asleep that quickly , I can't remember my head hitting the pillow.

Day 17&18 , Yesterday was a day of worry as Dan was in a great deal of pain , he checked himself into emergency and thankfully all scans came back clear for fractures. Still has significant swelling and bruising. So with that, we stayed a 2nd night in Cairns.
This morning we visited Cape York Motorcycle Adventures once again, to film / interview Jordan K***a on the experiences they can offer people.
We were lucky enough to score personally signed copies of Roy K***a the King of the Cape books. Once again the whole K***a family and team have spoilt us.
We then travelled south to Crystal creek and Paluma range before arriving in Townsville where we will stay the night and catch up with some friends.

Days 15 & 16 - Monday morning was nothing but travel , We said thankyou and goodbye to Mitch, Tracy and Mason and travelled Battlecamp road through to the Lions Den to spend the night ( and do some much needed washing ). This morning we left Lions Den and travelled on the spectacular Bloomfield track to Cape Tribulation and through the Daintree , across the Daintree Barge and onto our overnight stop at Cape York Motorcycle Adventures HQ in Cairns with Jordan, Roy and Renee K***a.

Day 14 - Left Bramwell station this morning with our new friends Mitch, Tracy and Mason. Decided to all have another night sharing each other's company. Tonight we are camping at the bend, just outside Coen. Campfire, music, beers and great company, what more could you ask for?

Day 13 - Back at Bramwell this evening, Got about 6km past the Jardine Ferry , and Dan had a proper stack on the corrugations. Bike was still ridable , but lots of pieces missing. To Dan's credit and the help of a wonderful family ( Mitch , Tracy and Mason ) who carried some of Dan's belongings the rest of the 170km to Bramwell. Think we have earnt a few drinks tonight.

Day 12 - Finally we achieved our goal , 28 years of dreaming , 18 months of preparation and we did it. Met some amazing people along the way , but as they say the trip is only at the halfway point. Time to start heading back home tomorrow, take in a few more sights 😊

Day 11 - The day started off with a little speed bump, cracked radiator hose held us up , with the help of North Qld Cape Tours we made a makeshift radiator hose from a steel belted fuel hose. We travelled non stop to Punsand Bay ... So we are officially up here. Out to the tip tomorrow .
