This month, Dr Jacqueline Beltz will be taking part in the Women in Vision Festival. A day created to bring together women working across eye care and the optical industry.

For Jacqui, this isn’t about visibility. It’s about contributing to conversations that shape how eye health is understood, supported, and experienced. Both within the profession and by patients every day.

Women represent a growing majority of professionals within parts of the vision workforce, yet opportunities for leadership, insight sharing, and collaboration are still uneven. Events like this matter because they prioritise connection, real discussion, and shared learning. Not surface-level inspiration.

We’re proud to support initiatives that centre expertise, inclusion, and patient-first thinking, and to be part of a broader community working to strengthen the future of eye care.

Dr Jacqui reacting to someone sleeping in their mascara and honestly… she gets why it happens 😅

We’ve all had those late nights where removing makeup feels like a marathon. But wearing mascara to bed can lead to a bit of eye irritation, clogged glands, and flaky bits ending up where they really don’t belong.

Think of it like brushing your teeth. Skip it once, and you’ll survive. Make it a habit? Your eyes might start complaining.

If the OKKIYO boss wouldn’t wear it on surgery day… she definitely wouldn’t sell it. There are a LOT of reasons for that. But the biggest one? She’s literally performing eye surgery.

There is zero room for distraction when the margin for error is measured in microns. Flaky mascara, irritation, smudging, watery eyes… absolutely not. If it’s not safe, comfortable, and reliable enough for the operating room… it’s not making it into your makeup bag either 👀✨
