We’re excited to announce that we’ll be working alongside the Demons Ice Hockey Club this season.
Our role will include baseline concussion testing and return-to-play management across their teams, helping ensure athletes are supported before injury ever occurs, and properly guided if one does.
In a fast, high-impact sport like ice hockey, recognising concussion early matters. That means:
• Knowing the signs
• Removing players immediately after a suspected head impact
• Referring for appropriate medical assessment and after-care
Concussion management isn’t about being anti-sport, it’s about protecting athletes so they can play longer, safer, and stronger.
Huge thanks to the Demons for prioritising player welfare. We’re looking forward to working together this season 🏒🧠
Concussions are a very real part of playing a contact sport like ice hockey. As a club, the Demons take injury prevention seriously.
We have sent 10 members of our Junior community on First Aid courses to ensure we always have someone available to help our players out and we have also joined forces with Stop Concussions and Melbourne Headache + Concussion Group to bring you an amazing session for Demons players, families and volunteers that teaches you about how to spot a Concussion and what to do and not to do, when a player experiences one.
Join us with special guests:
* Dr Alan Pearce- lead Australian concussion researcher
* Kerry Goulet - Global Director and ice hockey player
* Dr Scott Haller- President Shift Concussion Management
* Natalie Perkins- Concussion Practitioner
* Cliff Butler- Melbourne Headache + Concussion Group
