Looking after your mental wellbeing is just as important as growing your business.

This , our Founder and CEO Kaurah will be joining our Tala Thrive Executive Coach, Utkarsh Narang at Tank Stream Labs for a fireside chat.

They’ll explore how founders and entrepreneurs can stay mentally fit while chasing big goals, with tips on managing burnout, setting boundaries, and finding a sustainable approach to success.

If you’re in Melbourne, come along and join the conversation.

The words we never heard.

For too many of us, mental health was met with silence, stigma, or shame.

This World Mental Health Day, we’re rewriting the script. 🧡

Because care should never feel foreign. And your culture should never be a barrier to healing.

When life hits hard, “business as usual” doesn’t work. 🌍💔

📍In Australia, a school principal recently took six months of stress leave after losing more than 100 family members overseas.

Workplaces rarely make space for grief or global crises that affect our families and communities.

💡 Should leave policies recognise this reality?

🧡 Thank you to everyone who joined us for R U OK? Day last week.

We didn’t just come together, we listened, shared, and held space for one another. The stories you brought into the room reminded us that community is one of the most powerful forms of care. ✨

At Tala Thrive, we’re committed to building more spaces like this, where culture, identity, and wellbeing meet.

Because mental health isn’t just something we do alone. It’s something we can do together to heal. 🌏💬

Stay tuned for more gatherings, conversations, and ways to connect soon. 🧡

“Go bring me the belt.” 😳➡️🥲

Comment below which one you got hit with as a child 👀

For many of us in Asian, Black, and Brown households, this was normalised as “discipline.” But here’s the thing: just because it was common, doesn’t mean it was ok.

We can laugh about the absurdity (because, really, why was the chancla moving at Olympic speed? 😂), but also remind ourselves: breaking cycles matter.

Healing means realising love ≠ fear.

🎭 Our founder, , got to watch Marriage Material at the Lyric Hammersmith last month in London.

A funny, heartfelt, and piercing portrayal of immigrant identity, cultural pressure, and the quiet complexities of mental health.

At Tala Thrive, stories like these always reaffirm why we exist, because:

🧠 Mental health is shaped by culture
🎤 Sharing our stories gives others permission to speak
🧡 Resilience doesn’t mean silence; it often begins with vulnerability

As we see these stories unfold in our lives and screens, it’s important to remember that our mental health does matter and these stories help us feel seen.

Have you watched Marriage Material or a similar play? We’d love to hear your thoughts on it!

🧠 🧡 Summer is here (in some parts of the world), but so is the pressure to do more.

Here’s your reminder:
You’re allowed to slow down, rest, and care for your mind while the sun is out.

We’ve shared a few simple wellness tips you can weave into your summer days:
✨ Slow evenings, so your mind can rest
✨ Boundaries with social plans
✨ Hydrating your body and your mind

Because taking care of your mental health isn’t seasonal, it’s daily, and you deserve it.

We’re here to support your journey to wellness. Remember, taking care of yourself is a daily practice and you deserve it!

Let’s thrive together.🌿

Why is it so hard to set boundaries in POC communities?

Because in many of our cultures, boundaries are not modelled, they’re often mistaken for disrespect.

We grow up hearing:
🗣 “Don’t talk back.”
🫱🏽‍🫲🏾 “Family comes first.”
🤐 “Keep the peace.”

So when we finally try to set limits around our time, energy, or space, it feels uncomfortable, even disloyal.

But here’s what we often don’t get taught:
📚 Boundaries are not about pushing people away.
They’re about communicating to others what you're uncomfortable with so that you can have a better relationship going forward.
They help us stay connected and calmer.

In collectivist cultures especially, this can feel radical.
But it’s also what breaks cycles. It’s what helps us relate without resentment.

At Tala Thrive, we see this tension all the time.
People trying to honour their families and themselves.
Trying to care without collapsing.

That’s where culturally competent mental health care matters.
Because healing is easier when you don’t have to explain the guilt first.

✨ We’re building that space.

Join Tala Thrive and for raw, unfiltered conversation on culture, identity, and mental wellbeing.

This Saturday, we have a powerhouse panel of 3 voices:

✨ A Therapist
✨ A Founder
✨ An International Student

Learn more about the speakers:

🧡 (Founder & CEO of Tala Thrive) After struggling to find a therapist who understood her culture, Sonia - an Australian with South Asian heritage who has lived in 7 countries- built the platform she wished existed: Tala Thrive, connecting people with therapists who truly get their culture, language, and lived experience.

🎨 Negin Sadeghian: A therapist who turns healing into an art form, blending psychology and creativity to help people express what words can’t. With over 10 years of experience, she guides her clients through painting, movement, and storytelling because sometimes, the most powerful breakthroughs happen without saying a single word.

🌏 Daksh Agrawal: At 18, he left his hometown in India to pursue his degree in Data Science at the University of Melbourne. What followed? Culture shock, identity struggles, and the challenge of starting over.

Together, they’ll share their stories, challenge stigma, and open up the kind of honest conversation we’ve all been craving. And no matter your ethnicity or background, you are welcome here. This is a space for everyone to feel seen, heard, and supported.
🎟️ Reminder: Registration opens at 1:45 PM this Saturday, and we’ll kick off right at 2 PM. Arrive early, grab a seat, and be part of this powerful space for connection and reflection.
