✅3 Minute Huddle - Everyone Wants the View. No One Wants the Climb ✅
Let’s be honest, most business owners (and leaders in general) don’t climb the mountain for recognition. But every now and then… that rare pat on the back from your team? It hits different. It’s the fuel that sneaks in unexpectedly and reminds you why you keep showing up.
The truth? Those moments are rare. Most of the time, leadership feels like giving, giving, giving, with very little thanks in return. And if we tie our motivation to recognition alone, it can be deflating.
Here’s the hard part… you can’t climb Everest waiting for someone else to cheer you on. If your purpose depends on applause, you’ll never make it past base camp.
Because here’s the kicker… No one remembers who made it halfway up the mountain. They remember the ones who pushed through, who took the 1% of steps that 99% of people didn’t want to take.
And yet, the irony? When we make it look easy, when our clinics run smoothly, when our leadership inspires growth, sometimes the very people we’ve carried as ‘Sherpas’ decide to climb their own mountain. They leave. And it hurts.
But maybe it’s also the ultimate compliment. Maybe they left because you made it look possible?!
When you’ve had someone carrying your pack, the climb feels lighter. But the day you shoulder it yourself? That’s when you truly understand what it takes.
Warren Buffet said: “Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.”
Plant your trees not for the thank-yous, but because creating a thriving garden is its own reward. And if someone leaves to plant their own? That’s legacy.
At the end of the day, anyone can drive a boat, but only a few can Captain a ship. And Captains? They don’t climb for applause. They climb because they know the view from the top is worth it.
Wherever you are right now, appreciate the view, you’ve earned it. You don’t need it, but I’m proud of you. 💪🏻 Jade. xx
