What if world leaders like Putin and Trump sat in a men's circle?
The world’s most powerful men sit at tables long, polished, rectangular tables that signify hierarchy, distance, and opposition. But what if we invited them to a different kind of table? A circle.
This circle is not a conference; it is a crucible of connection. It is a space that challenges the modern measure of success money, status, and material objects and replaces it with the profound, undeniable craving of the human spirit: safety and genuine connection.
Imagine Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, Benjamin Netanyahu, Emmanuel Macron, Xi Jinping, Ali Khamenei, and Kim Jong Un sitting together. Not to debate policy or threaten borders, but to speak of their fears. Imagine them in a space where they are stripped of their titles, their security details, and their nuclear codes. Imagine them sharing the arguments they had with their partners, the anxieties that shadow their sleep, and the quiet traumas of their past.
In this circle, the loneliness of power is stripped away. Imagine Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin sharing their childhood experiences and the traumas they carried into adulthood. Imagine them speaking about the heartaches that shaped them whether it was the end of a relationship or the loss of a loved one. These are the universal experiences that bind us, yet they are the very things excluded from the halls of power.
The men's circle is a practice in deep listening, where one listens not to interrupt or to answer, but to reflect and resonate. It is a conversation where gratitude is not a platitude but a key discussion point, and where the goal is simply to be true to oneself. It is a space where kindness, compassion, and love are not abstract, idealistic notions, but tangible targets for a better world as vital as a national budget or an interest rate.
I might be romantic and I am often told to be pragmatic. To remember that we follow the rules and laws formulated over centuries. But let us be truly pragmatic. If our world were a logical place that followed laws designed to protect us, why are these men still in power? A true pragmatist looks at the evidence: a system that allows racist, conceited criminals and war offenders to govern is a system that has failed.
Being pragmatic isn't about being passive; it is about accountability. It is about recognizing that many of these leaders, if held to the standard of the very laws they claim to uphold, should be in a cell, not a palace. We have lost focus on our values as a species. We all want the same thing. We just need love and the courage to demand a world where power is held only by those who have the emotional literacy and human decency to sit in the circle.
