Not all Cacao is created equal.
Most people think Cacao is just… Cacao.
But there are actually different types, grown in very different ways, with very different impacts.
🌱 Around 85% of the world’s Cacao is Forastero, grown for volume on large-scale plantations.
🌿 Only a small percentage is Criollo, the original heirloom Cacao variety known for its quality, flavour and medicinal properties.
And where it’s grown matters too…
🌍 Most Cacao comes from West Africa.
But much of it is produced in systems focused on yield over quality… and not always with ethical practices.
With over 1,500,000 children involved in Cacao production, it’s important to understand the true cost of the Cacao we consume.
But what if there was another way? 🌿
Wild-crafted Criollo Cacao is grown in the rainforest, not on monoculture plantations.
It develops naturally rich, fruity and complex flavours, shaped by the diversity of its environment.
On top of that, it supports Indigenous communities, empowers women and children, and helps protect the land it comes from.
This is real Cacao, as nature intended.
If you’ve never experienced the difference, now’s the time 🤍
