PLAYBACK WEST APRIL TRAINING SERIES
Playback for Beginners
Playback Theatre is a dynamic and engaging form of performance in which a team of players act out the real stories and experiences of audience member’s on the spot. It has a rich history and continues to find new and innovative ways of reaching new audiences all over the world. For the performer, Playback offers unique opportunities and challenges.
Playback West is offering 4 weeks of training that will cover the fundamentals of Playback Theatre including short and long form improvisation, ensemble work, active listening, music and conducting. We will work together through discussion and practice.

Workshops will be facilitated by Max Barker, Piper Huynh and company. Max has over ten years of experience in theatre facilitation, is currently the Co-Artistic Director of the company and in January ran a successful Playback training series in Manila, Philippines with fellow Playback West member, Piper Huynh.
What will be covered?
WEEK ONE – What is Playback? Ensemble, short and long forms
WEEK TWO – Looking Further: Short forms extended and the role of the musician
WEEK THREE – Looking Deeper: The role of the conductor and the red thread
WEEK FOUR – Bringing it all together: Consolidation and performance
Perfect for anyone with an interest in performance, community arts and storytelling. No prior acting experience is required. Participants in the workshop series may have the opportunity for more training and development with Playback West in the future.
