Facilitate the counselling relationship and process, counsellors must work ethically, reflectively, and without bias.

If a counsellor’s personal beliefs, morals, or values are not managed, they can negatively impact the counselling relationship by:

Creating judgement or bias, causing the client to feel unsafe or misunderstood
Leading to assumptions rather than staying with the client’s perspective
Influencing goal‑setting based on the counsellor’s values instead of the client’s needs
Damaging trust, rapport, and engagement
Limiting the client’s autonomy and self‑determination
It requires counsellors to use self‑awareness, supervision, and ethical practice to prevent personal values from interfering with effective, client‑centred counselling.

Seeing a loved one's face "in front of your eyes" all the time, even when they are not physically present, is a common experience during the early stages of romantic love. This phenomenon is caused by a combination of intense neurochemical shifts in the brain, dopamine-driven focus, and the psychological process of idealization.

Here is a breakdown of why this happens:

Brain Reward System Activation: Romantic love lights up the same dopamine-rich reward circuits in the brain associated with addiction. This creates intense focus, craving, and motivation to think about the partner, leading to the mental visualization of their face.

Reduced Serotonin Levels: Early-stage love is characterized by a drop in serotonin, a neurotransmitter that regulates anxiety and mood. Lower levels of serotonin are similar to those found in people with obsessive-compulsive disorders, which explains why thoughts of the person become intrusive, repetitive, and all-consuming.

Intense Focus on "The Look of Love": The face and eyes are the primary focus of emotional connection. Because humans read emotions through facial expressions, your brain fixates on the face to read love, familiarity, and security.

"Mere Exposure" and Attachment: Repeatedly visualizing or looking at someone strengthens your attachment to them. This process, often linked to the "mere exposure effect," makes the face familiar and comforting, causing it to arise easily in your memory and thoughts.

Idealization: When in love, you tend to create an idealized image of the person, focusing on their best qualities, which makes their face appear even more vivid and pleasant to your mind.

In essence, your brain is "hooked" on the person and prioritizes their face as a source of pleasure and emotional satisfaction, making it appear constantly in your mental visual field. 💕😍
