Here’s one question that I've been getting asked a lot lately…
“What would you do differently if you knew how detrimental some ingredients were to the skin and body?"
And I often get asked for advice specifically on controversial ingredients and also traumas and emotional states and how they're all linked together!
And real talk, in the beginning, I was probably a little hesitant to speak up purely because our approach could be seen as controversial *cue my own traumas about being seen and ridiculed 😂*
But in the time practicing my craft and seeing patients 1-1, I’ve definitely learnt (and are STILL learning) PLENTY. And because I believe that knowledge is power (and that sharing is caring 😉), I want to tell you exactly what it is that I’d do differently if I knew how detrimental some artificially MADE ingredients were when I first started!
🙅♀️ I WOULDN’T ask my clients to use products with retinoids, retinols & artificially made alpha-hydroxy acids in them (very VERY long time ago, but still prevalent in the industry today!)
I WOULD consistently and exhaustingly explain how important it was to FEED and NOURISH the skin as opposed to using ingredients that would break skin cells down over time. Back in the day, there were no plant-based skin care ranges!
Have you had a personal experience with either of the above or some advice to share that we didn’t cover? Drop it in the comments!
