Food noise has been a recurring topic among my clients lately. Many people experience it, but may not have had the term to describe what they’re feeling.
The intensity of food noise can vary significantly from person to person, with individuals responding in different ways. For some, it may be a faint background hum, while for others, it can feel overwhelming and constant. How someone reacts to hunger, cravings, and food-related thoughts is influenced by a range of factors, such as their emotional relationship with food, stress levels, and past eating habits. It’s important to remember that strategies that work for one person may not work for another, and finding personalised approaches to manage food noise is crucial for long-term success.
Lately, I’ve seen an increasing number of clients using GLP-1 medications. Many have shared that these drugs help quiet their food noise, making it easier for them to understand and listen to their true hunger cues. However, this benefit only persists while on the medication. For lasting success, it’s essential for these individuals to address the underlying triggers and responses to food noise once they come off the drug.
Please be in touch if you feel you need some help with managing your food noise.
