Pixie Fitzgerald Support Page This is the official support and fundraiser page for Pixie Fitzgerald, a 5 year old girl battling Stage IV Germ Cell Cancer. Please read the 'About' below.

Pixie Fitzgerald was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of Germ Cell Cancer in November 2011. After an extraordinary battle that included varied chemotherapies, surgeries to remove tumours and transfusions, Pixie passed away on the 13th February 2013 at just six years of age. Her parents Kylyn and John and 7 year old brother Max and 2 year old sister Tora live on a small farm in Moriac, near Geelong, Victoria, Australia, where they have emus and horses and grow organic garlic. The severity of the cancer has meant that Pixie spent much of the time transferring between Geelong Hospital and the Royal Childrens Hospital in Melbourne. When there her parents and sister stayed at Ronald McDonald House to be with her, while her brother stays with a family friend so he could continue going to school. Through our fundraiser and with the amazing support of builders Signature Homes Geelong and kind and generous donations from their suppliers and tradespeople we managed to built a renovation to the family home. Intended to provide Pixie with a hospital grade bedroom and bathroom, so she could come home more often, and a playroom for her and her brother and sister to have fun and find escape from the harsh reality of this battle. Sadly, yet beautifully the room was completed just days before her passing and she spent just one lucid night in her beautiful room before slipping into her final sleep. So please 'Like' the page and leave a message of support for Pixie's family at this very difficult time. Yours sincerely,

URGENT!! Friendly Kangaroo Needed!

Not your average request I know but I'm making it on behalf of the lovely Jessica van Beek who is in Melbourne from the Netherlands to film a TV show about animal heros.

She had lined up a Kangaroo for the show but extremely tragically has just been notified that the animal actor was bitten by a snake and died.

So she is quite desperate to find a tame Kangaroo that can be guided to hop in front of a couple of actors to a certain spot, and put 2 frontclaws on a lying down man as part of a reenactment of true story wherein a Kangaroo saved a man from choking.

So I have been searching high and low for indigenous animal handlers in the hope of finding a friendly Roo available for a TV shoot in late February?

Aside from emailing a bunch of businesses I thought I'd throw a post out to all my networks in case someone has a hand reared Roo who wants their big screen break!

Please can you SHARE or ping anyone you know that might be able to help?

Many thanks!

Katherine xo

Hi Everyone, it's Katherine here, I am checking in with all my social networks looking for anyone that may have a genuine interest in Gypsy Caravans and/or the Tiny House Movement that might be willing to give me a hand.

I am currently enrolled in the federal government's New Enterprise Incentive Scheme and preparing a business plan to embark on new small venture that I have dreamed of doing since I was a child and first encountered and fell in love with them, I want to finally put my training in design, woodcraft, fine art and furniture to use and start building custom Gypsy Caravans.

I have the chassis, plans and base materials ready to begin building my first display caravan; but if this is to become a viable business I need to do some preliminary market research; so if you have a bit of a Gypsy spirit and would like to help a sister out I have created an Initial Research Survey and would dearly love your input!

Of all of the days to have to be here 😞Ruby has a specialist appointment with the Orthopaedic team to check the progress of her treatment for osteomyelitis in her leg.

She really wanted to take a picture of Big Lips, Pixie's favourite fish but unfortunately the RCH aquarium is still closed for cleaning, so we had to settle for the giant butterfly that she also loved.

4 years have passed, but we didn't lose you darling Pixie, you live on in our hearts.Love you always precious girl.🌈💜👼🦋🌷

Needs tissues.
I know that this will bring out tears but I wanted to share because it reminded me so much of Pixie's passing.

On finally completing her pink room Pixie came home from hospital and only slept one night in it and then she let go.

There is something tragically magical and strangely comforting in these stories, these young children holding on until the peace, love and security was just right.

Much love. Be kind and 'there for' one another.

Wishing you all a safe, happy and connected Christmas.

A message from Pixie's mum Kylyn:

13/01/2007. Happy 8th birthday to our darling daughter Pixie, forever 6 years old, just like the poem at her funeral.
We miss her so much, I just cannot find the words to describe.
So I'll explain, this year she would be starting grade 3, starting netball with Max while he was at footy, just generally being an 8 year old girl.
Today we went to the cemetery with eight balloons (thank you Sarah Bullock, simply beautiful, even in the pouring rain, which still hasn't stopped, we love you) with John, Max, Tora, Will and Sarah we tied the balloons all around her, shae would have loved it!
Lots of love & special hugs & kisses, your mummy & Daddy forever X###

Our favourite extreme humanitarian is at it again!

Many of you will remember Pixie's personal hero Alex Petrou who pushed her purple wheelie bin from the Royal Children's Hospital to the Geelong Hospital to help raise the funds to build her pink bedroom.

This time he is turning his considerable muscle to push a car 42km in 15 hours to raise funds for disadvantaged youth!
This is a wonderful grass roots campaign and I am asking all of our friends to support him even if it is just a couple of dollars to reach his target.

Alex did so much for our little Pixie, he is a one of kind person that puts himself on the line for others.
Lets give him a push forward in his drive. Just think if each of you dear friends just donated $1 he'd hit his target!

But I'm challenging you to donate $5 (or more!) and then blow a special kiss in honour of our angel Pixie.

A lovely and touching post by Maria Solo:

I was given an information & resources package yesterday at a seminar I opened to find Pixie, I couldn't control my emotions so had to walk away from the 2 ladies that chat to me and gave me this. I came up to checked on Abbey gave her a massive hug n kiss she asked what I had in my hand. I gave her the package she opened and found the booklet with Pixies picture. She said, Lovely shot if Pixie she's gone but she'll always be remembered I couldn't said it any better than she did u Kylyn n family
