What does dry fascia sound like?
The crunch that you hear when massaging is caused by tight fascia "and also tendons."
Now fascia doesn't dry up like toast, there's always significant lubrication within the tissues. But "dryness" is helpful to think of as a guide to locating knots and working on those parts of the body. "It helps you hunt for these trigger points" to release them.
You could also think of these spots as "densification" where a trigger point increases in mass causing pressure in that area creating tightness and pain and radiates through the entire muscle.
Massage helps release this mass and allow for the layers to glide smoothly during movement.
