Our wonderful Educational & Developmental Psychologist Tayla is developing a Post-Diagnosis Support Program to empower individuals and families to understand, embrace, and navigate life following a neurodevelopmental diagnosis such as autism or ADHD.

The program will begin with five recorded webinars and downloadable resources designed to provide practical, evidence-informed information after diagnosis, strengthen wellbeing and identity, and support families, adults, and clinicians.

To make sure the content truly reflects the needs and priorities of our community, she is seeking input from:

👉 Families and adults who have recently or previously received a diagnosis, or are currently going through the assessment process
👉 Clinicians and allied-health professionals who support clients post-diagnosis

Each short survey takes only 3–5 minutes to complete, and responses are open until Friday 14 November.

👉 Families & Adults: http://bit.ly/4qJkOML
👉 Clinicians & Professionals: https://bit.ly/4nE0F88

Your feedback will directly shape this resource to ensure it’s meaningful, inclusive, and practically useful across both personal and professional contexts.

Thank you for helping guide this next step in post-diagnostic support 💙

Big feelings can be overwhelming for kids and parents.

Emotion coaching helps children understand, express, and manage their emotions, while helping parents stay calm and connected.

When we notice, name, and validate emotions, children feel safe and supported, making it easier for them to problem-solve and thrive.

Anxiety can show up in different ways ... in our thoughts, our bodies, our feelings, and even our behaviours.

👉 It might sound like constant “what ifs” or self-doubt.
👉 It might feel like a racing heart, nausea, or trouble sleeping.
👉 It might look like avoiding situations, feeling restless, or over-checking things.

Recognising these signs is the first step toward managing anxiety and finding strategies that help. You don’t have to go through it alone. Reaching out for support can make a big difference.

✨ Pause. Inhale. Exhale. ✨

Sometimes the best thing you can do is simply take a moment to breathe.

Try the 3-second triangle:
- breathe in for 3,
- hold for 3, and
- exhale for 3.

Repeat until you feel calmer and more grounded.

A simple tool you can use anytime, anywhere.

Separation anxiety is a normal stage of development, especially in young children, but it can feel tough for both parents and kids. The good news is, with gentle practice and consistency, children can build confidence in being apart and trust that you will always return.

Here are some ways to support your child:
✔️ Start small with short separations and gradually increase the distance.
✔️ Keep goodbyes brief, calm, and predictable.
✔️ Always return when you say you will...this builds trust.
✔️ Praise your child’s courage and celebrate small steps forward.

Remember, patience is key. With time, children learn that being apart is safe and temporary, helping them feel more secure and resilient.
