I don’t drink alcohol anymore because it makes me snore like an english bulldog - BUT when I did I found that it would really throw off my entire wellness routine (mostly the meditation, asana and journalling).

HOWEVER - sometimes we need to go off path, to understand the path we really choose and why.

If you’ve had a weekend full of debauchery it’s fine - let it go and just begin again.

✨Who can relate?💫 👇🏽

Meditation takes practice just like everything else. In the same way that sweat, discomfort and an increased heart rate are a natural part of exercise, constantly thinking about work, to-lists and the days events are just a part of the process when beginning a stillness practice.

The 12 week Vertue Yoga programme includes guided meditation AND philosophy to not only help you disconnect from that rumination, but provide the tools to process it and let it gooooooooo 🧘🏽🧘🏾‍♀️🧘🏼‍♀️

Something you’re probably not taught in your yoga class … ⁣

This video comes from my Mobility programme (link in bio) and covers an important strength training principle that I also use in my yoga classes / cueing too. This is because irradiation helps to maintain stability THROUGHOUT the body when we move into yoga postures and will therefore support the ex*****on AND strengthening of them. Irradiation helps to generate more force (although we aren’t lifting any weight, we are still placing our bodies in strange positions that change our relationship with gravity) which helps us perform these postures with Sthira (steadiness). ⁣

There’s so much that strength principles can provide the yoga asana practice to keep it both safe AND effective.⁣

If Yoga was just about the Asana, I would have quit a long time ago; because THE BENEFITS OF YOGA have very little to do with the shapes you’re making.

Here I am practicing Pranayama in the park 🫁🍃 to support my nervous system and reduce that mid-term exam anxiety. It took me ten minutes and has both acute and long-term effects.

Hello Yogis⁣ 🧘🏾‍♀️ 🧘🏻‍♂️ 🧘🏽🧘🏼‍♀️🧘🏿‍♂️

I’m back and ready to answer your questions pertaining to all things YOGA. ⁣

Most of you probably already follow my other page which is a lot more broad and explores a range of wellness aspects, from relationships to strength training to mobility and some Yoga. ⁣

What I DON’T get to dive deep into on that page is YOGIC (or any eastern) philosophy, mostly because it can alienate those that are simply not ready (or wanting) to explore ancient philosophical concepts (despite them being incredibly helpful at reducing anxious and depressive symptoms). ⁣

This page however will explore these topics in more depth starting with some INSTAGRAM LIVES so we can have chats about them and expand our awareness of these topics TOGETHER. ⁣

I want to reiterate, I am not an expert in eastern philosophies but they have been a huge part of my life since I was 19 (when I abstained from alcohol, for 7 years, and dove deep into Yogic and Buddhist philosophies in an attempt to understand what the hell was going on with consciousness and it’s interactions with physical matter — which apparently isn’t really there ... anyway TBD another day). They’re also a huge part of my heritage (on my Mumma’s side) so there’s that too. ⁣

But the idea here is to introduce topics and explore them through perhaps a modern lens, sometimes a scientific lens and other times just through a human experience lens. ⁣

To start things off I thought I’d put it y’all…. WHAT YOGA PHILOSOPHICAL CONCEPTS DO YOU WANT TO UNDERSTAND (if any) or are you simply here for the physical (totally ok … maybe I can seduce you somehow over to the philosophical side … ). IS THERE SOMETHING A YOGA TEACHER BROUGHT UP ONCE AND YOU WERE LIKE … errrr, what the hell is that about? ⁣

LET ME KNOW AND I’LL GET US STARTED ON SOME PHILOSOPHY LIVES. ⁣
