Receiving Support
Autumn is a time of receiving and letting go.
And often, letting go isn’t so easy.

We can hold on to many things — the ego in our practice, the idea of the “perfect” pose, the need for things to look a certain way in our work or daily life, or even the face we present to the world.
We may also be holding onto relationships, or the absence of people we’ve lost.

This season invites us to soften that grip.

It reminds us that it’s okay to be supported in the process of letting go — that we don’t have to do it alone.

In our practice this week, we’ve been exploring how to receive support.
Through breath, through alignment, and through awareness, of our practice we’ll gently find our edge — not to push, but to meet ourselves there with steadiness and care- as always look forward to sharing the mat with you 🙏🍁🍂

Receiving Strength
“Last week we explored receiving the breath — noticing what we are taking in and allowing the breath to arrive more naturally in the body.
This week we build from that and explore receiving strength.
🍂Often when we think about strength, we imagine pushing harder or forcing the body. But strength can also be quieter than that. Sometimes strength is steady, aware, and even soft.
🍂In yoga philosophy there is a niyama called Tapas, which speaks to discipline and the quiet strength that develops when we show up to practice regularly. Not force, but a steady commitment.
🍂Through practice we begin to receive that strength — not only in the muscles, but in our focus and resilience. And that kind of strength can support us when things feel challenging in our day-to-day lives, helping us stay steady and present.
🍂As we move through Autumn, the season itself invites us to gather our energy a little more inward. In Chinese medicine this time of year connects with the Lung meridian, which relates to the breath and our ability to receive what nourishes us.
🍂So this week we’ll explore how breath and movement can support a sense of steady strength in the body — opening the chest, the ribs and the arms where the Lung meridian travels — and noticing how strength can arise when we stay connected to the breath.”

“As we move into Autumn, nature begins to shift quietly.
It doesn’t rush. It gathers. It conserves.
In Chinese medicine, this season connects to the lungs, our large intestine & metal clarity. For the next 3 months we will explore a different theme related to this Autumnal Season
March – RECEIVE (gathering inward)
April – RELEASE (clearing space)
May – REFINE (clarity and integrity)

So this first month of Autumn, we explore receiving — our capacity to receive breath, energy, clarity.
Not striving. Not pushing.
Just noticing what is here… and allowing ourselves to take in what truly nourishes.
And through that, the body finds its own reset.”
Looking forward to seeing you join me in class. Kath x

Happy Sunday!
We’ve been moving through Yoga this month with the theme of returning.
~Returning to our practice.
~Returning to our routines.
~Returning to ourselves.
In our first week, we looked at grounding — how we root down.
How we steady ourselves in our lives, not just on the mat.
The second week was about breath.
Using the breath to focus us, calm us, anchor us.
Last week we centred.
We worked through our heart space, our core, our breath —
that place inside that centres us quietly with stillness.
And today… we look at balance.
Not balance as in holding everything perfectly together.
Not balance as in never wobbling.
But balance as in adjusting.
Responding.
Finding steadiness even when things shift.
Balance isn’t rigid.
It’s responsive.
And often, balance comes after we’ve grounded…
after we’ve breathed…
after we’ve centred.
So today is not a strenuous class.
It’s somewhere in between.
A practice that allows us to feel steady,
without forcing anything.
If you wobble — that’s part of it.
If you need to step out — that’s part of it.
If you feel steady — that’s part of it too.
We’re simply practising the art of coming back.
Join me today Sunday 5pm, Tuesday 6pm & Wednesday 7.45pm
