Are you on home dialysis and wishing to travel? We are looking for the next owner of our Dialysis van – Dialyscape.
Our family has benefited from the freedom that Dialyscape has given while I was on Home Haemodialysis for nearly 5 years. From visiting family interstate to getaways using BnB’s, to camping (on grid) and the ability to attend important events such as weddings and funerals. All these things, virtually inaccessible while on dialysis became a mental health lifesaver for the family and me.
Last year I received a kidney transplant so it’s now time to find the new owners. Because it was created with support from generous donors, we’d like to sell it for a subsidised price so that the impact continues.
Here’s the details, please pass on to any one who would benefit from this life-changing opportunity.

Thought it about time I gave a bit of an update.

It's now been a 15days since transplant.
This week was a little eventful. However, this weekend I escaped the confinement of the city and am enjoying a beautiful sunny weekend in Mornington.

This week saw Eutychus Fox (new kidney name) start to do his job.

So has been a week and a couple of days since discharge. This weekend I am down in Mornington again enjoying a beautiful sunny day down near the water. It is so so refreshing from the inner city apartment with ambulance sirens and Air Ambulance 24/7.

This week, I had a lovely stay in emerg waiting room and short stay bed. And the first 5 hr uninterrupted sleep since before surgery under the care of morphine and lignocaine. I spare you the details as it wasn't kidney related ...
Kidney effevtiveness measurement is calculated in level of Creatinine. Healthy kidney range 60-110. On dialysis my creatinine was around 1200. After my dialysis session Thursday a week and a bit ago it dropped to 600, then on Friday rose to 750. Sat was 749. Dr said that was enough of a drop that I didn't need a biopsy. Monday it had dropped to 500, Wed it was 334 or something, then yesterday was 235. And it is looking really good. Would like to see some other numbers dropping soon as well, but this is fantastic. I am aiming for 100.
Also the eGfr is a calculation as an approx percentage of effectiveness of cleaning. On dialysis my diseased kidney was at 3. On wed in was 17 we would expect to see a minimum of 40 but aiming for 60 or 70 which will also bring creatinine down. So we are journeying well.

Life even looks brighter with clearer blood flowing through my corneas.

Update time:

Hi guys, thanks for your support on this journey. So today is day 6 after transplant. Pissant the kidney while finding a nice new snuggly home in my body, is still just settling in and hasn't kicked in fully yet. We knew it would take a while for him to wake up after surgery and its not uncommon for it to take up to a week. It's just a recovery process for the kidney after the trauma it has experienced.
Meanwhile, they have been pumping fluids into me trying to trick start Pissant. While wee output has increased, I am a bit overloaded and have to do a dialysis session this morning, then I'll be discharged. Drs will continue to monitor, as I have weeks of daily and every other day clinics at the hospital. Still feeling very peaceful through all of this and blessed to be able to be where I am. Will keep you updated through the next process.

For FB world, I'll mention that today is the first day of DonateLife week. Donatelife week focuses on the Millions of Aussies who agree with organ donation, but have yet to sign up to be an organ donor. If everyone of those Aussies signed up, the wait list for organ transplant would be greatly reduced across Kidney, heart and lung transplants.
I wrote this with the knowing that 2 days ago, someone had chosen to be an organ donor and I am now the beneficiary of that choice. On Friday, I was gifted a new kidney. My thoughts and prayers are with the donor's family and their grief while I've been gifted renewed life.
Here is a pic of me day #2 and a pic of dialyscape. Please use the qr code on dialyscape to take 2 mins to sign up to be a donor.

Gostwyck Chapel is a delightful sacred place in the middle of beautiful grazing land. It was build as a memorial to Captain Dangar who was injured in battle in WW1 but made it home only to die from his injuries not long after in Melbourne.

A couple of weeks earlier and you would see the vibrant red Ivy leaves covering the Chapel.

The new addition to Dialyscape. Thank you for to all those supporters who, without their generosity of time and $ helped to see the vision of Dialyscape get off the ground.

Stage 2 is to come up with a way to assist others with a dialysis van/caravan.
