Koshu K’empo Australia is a European style martial art that caters for all ages, shapes and sizes, fitness levels and suits male and female as well as children. Koshu K’empo is primarily a self defence martial art that covers all areas of ‘street defence’ including traditional and non-traditional martial arts, high standards of techniques, sport karate and effective locks, throws and falls. Koshu K’empo teaches mind and body disciplines, self-respect, good posture, co-ordination and most importantly confidence and self-esteem. Grandmaster Dr. Jon K Puxty started his classes over 40 years ago. After training with over 60 styles and gaining recognition with his colleagues, Jon decided that most styles only suited some types of body builds, ages, fitness levels and was very male dominant. Utilising his training in all the styles, combined with his own extensive knowledge in the dynamics of the human body in his profession as Chiropractor and Osteopath, Jon began to develop Koshu K’empo Australia. This eclectic martial art suits all Australians regardless of their build, age and fitness levels and it suits both male and female. Technique and power are the fundamentals of Koshu K’empo with basic, easy and proven self-defence techniques. Over the years Grandmaster Dr Jon Puxty has helped develop and sustain other ‘sister’ clubs such as Goshu Kan Australia (Sydney based) which interact with Koshu K’empo Australia for high level Gradings, training weekends and social events. Koshu K’empo is a member of the M.A.I.A (Martial Arts Industry of Australia) and Instructors are Accredited Coaches with the Australian Sports Commission.
