Of all the Eucalypts, there is none more beautiful than the Silver Princess. Often referred to as gum trees, eucalypts dominate the Australian landscape with over 600 species. They are found in most habitats, ranging from the snowline, the Central Desert, rainforests, sclerophyll forests, the mallee and the brigalow.

The name of the Eucalyptus genus was derived from the Greek words eu, which means well, and kalyptos, meaning covered. “Well-covered” refers to the small, hard cap that fits tightly over the eucalypt’s flowering bud. The cap has evolved as a fusing of the sepals and petals, both of which are absent from the flower. As the flower blooms, the expanding stamens, which provide the flower’s beauty, push off the dried cap. Caesia means bluish grey, the colour of the stem and bark of this glorious tree.
