The New Aged Care Act is Here! 💙

Big news for older Australians and their families: the new Aged Care Act officially started on 1 November 2025.

This update brings a stronger focus on rights, respect, and quality care for every person receiving aged care support.

Here’s what’s new 👇

💬 Your rights come first
A new Statement of Rights puts independence, dignity, and choice at the centre of aged care. Your preferences, culture, and voice are recognised and protected under the new law.

🔍 Higher standards and stronger accountability
Providers are now required to meet stricter standards and follow clearer rules around quality and safety. This means more transparency and greater confidence in the care you receive.

🧭 Building trust and understanding
These changes are designed to create a clearer, more transparent relationship between older Australians and their care providers.

It’s International Stress Awareness Week (Nov 3–7), and while “self-care” can sound like a buzzword, managing stress is an important part of daily wellbeing. 💙

Small, realistic habits can make a big difference for participants, families, and support workers too.

Here are 4 gentle ways to care for your mind and body this week:

🕰️ 1. Schedule “transition time.” Don’t rush from one task to another. Even five quiet minutes can help your mind reset.

📋 2. Make a “done list.” Instead of focusing on what’s left to do, write down what you’ve achieved today. It helps shift your focus from pressure to progress.

💬 3. Ground yourself through your senses. Notice one thing you can see, touch, hear, smell, and taste It's a simple way to bring calm and awareness to the moment.

💙 4. Ask for shared quiet. Sometimes support doesn’t mean talking. It means being present together in peace.
