“Where are my people from?”
ONLINE WORKSHOP HOME, COUNTRY AND MIGRATION

If migration belongs to your family story, chances are that part of your heritage is still wanting to be acknowledged. Maybe yourself or someone in your family, one, two, three or four generations ago, came from another country to start anew in Australia. Following an intuition, looking for better opportunities, escaping war, fleeing from personal trauma, many left behind families, dreams, careers, their language, their heart, and even their name.

We know that unresolved trauma from the past is passed down to the younger generations. “History matters”, says Anngwyn St Just, and migrating is never a trivial affair.

If you are a migrant or someone in your family is, if you work with people who come from other places, you are more than welcome to join us in this workshop.

Some of the topics we might explore:
The systemic forces that impel us to migrate.
In what country do we have the most strength?
What are the dynamics that support success when we migrate? What is home for us?
The history of places, houses and inheritances.

"A constellation can help us to see the link between our emotional bonds and our illnesses. It’s a conversation with life where the threads of love of our family tapestry become visible: our longing for Mum’s attention, our tendency to follow a deceased young sibling, our identification with our father’s first wife’s rage, our hopeless attempt to save our mother’s life by taking over her disease. These are all common dynamics that show up through the representatives in the field. And suddenly our depression makes sense, we understand the meaning of our eating disorder, we discover the purpose of our child’s learning difficulty."

What is our position in our family system? Do we honor the ones who came first (grandparents, parents) and take our place as grandchildren and children? Or do we try to intervene in their destiny? Can we honour and respect our ancestor´s fate or do we try to carry it for them?

Many personal difficulties, as well as problems in relationships are the result of confusion in family systems. Constellations allow to witness these entanglements that bring unhappiness and to restore healthier dynamics in families.
