To celebrate International Day of Disability, we want to take a moment to reflect on the inaugural All Abilities Week in October, proudly supported by Bupa Australia

All Abilities Week saw incredible engagement across our tennis community – from educating staff nationwide to involving clubs and welcoming many new players with disability onto the court and into the broader tennis community.

This is just one of the ways we continue to rewrite the rules and better embrace people with disability in everything we do, both on and off the court.

By day, Ben's part of our Sydney Wellness team. By weekend, he’s an AFL boundary umpire.

He got into umpiring 10 years ago while playing footy with the St Ives Saints for a bit of pocket money.

Ben says he has one of the best seats in the house to watch the game he loves. However, he acknowledges it has taken determination and resilience to get to where he is now.

"When I ran onto the SCG in front of my family and friends, it was a real pinch-me moment that I'll never forget. It's a great reminder that chasing your passions outside of work is always worth it," he says.

What's your side hustle?

Your “I’ll book it later” era ends on Dec 31.

New data shows 70% of working Aussies have experienced burnout, with 30% saying they’ve been too busy to look after their wellbeing.

With health insurance Extras resetting on January 1, Bupa Health Services Clinical Director Dr Tony MacDermott says busy lifestyles meant we often relegated health appointments to the ‘to-do later’ list, particularly in the lead up to the silly season

Stella has been part of the Caulfield family for almost a decade, and her presence has shaped the place more than she realises.

After starting as a PCA, she took on a new challenge at reception, quickly becoming the calm, friendly face people looked forward to seeing. Her ability to switch between Italian, Greek and English didn’t hurt either.

Now, Stella’s moving into a Carer Companion role, helping new residents feel settled and showing families around the home. It’s a natural next step for someone who brings a steady, reassuring energy to every interaction.

Stella has grown with Caulfield, and Caulfield has grown with her.

Your DNA could help unlock the secret to finding the right medicine for you.

Doctors can use pharmacogenomic information to assess how effective some medications might be or evaluate the risk of unwanted side effects, helping them make decisions about which medications may be best for you.

Bupa, through its digital health platform Blua, recently partnered with myDNA to launch its pharmacogenomics program for customers to help understand how their genes may affect responses to more than 100 medications.

Few people have a bigger picture view of Blua than Bella. Her Go-To-Market team ensures every touchpoint feels connected, purposeful, and impactful, helping Australians manage their health with confidence.

For Bella, the most exciting part about her job is making healthcare more simple, accessible, and enjoyable. She’s even using Blua’s new Habits feature herself, tracking steps on a walking pad to stay on top of her wellbeing while she's busy at work.

Small, consistent actions like this show how Blua can make a real difference every day.

Growing up, Taymon Kenton-Smith felt trapped due to Gorlin Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder which causes skin cancer. A life-changing trip to Spain helped him find strength and build a support network.

Now he wants Australians to know it is ok to talk about health. Taymon is one of six Australian Paralympic Team para-athletes featured in our Health Stories campaign.

Healthcare and farming… a match made in Mount Eccles. 🌱

We’re excited to launch a 250-hectare nature regeneration project in Victoria’s South Gippsland region — a major step towards our net zero ambitions.

Over the next 25 years, we’ll plant more than 200,000 native trees and shrubs to help restore local wildlife habitats and naturally capture around 200,000 tonnes of carbon.

As Bupa APAC CEO Nick Stone said, the healthcare sector contributes around 5.4% of Australia’s emissions each year — so taking tangible action through local regeneration projects is key.

Amber’s nana is her inspiration and was a driving motivation to join our aged care team.

She has moved to a full-time role at our Croydon Aged Care home after starting in Bupa’s Trainee Program, and has not looked back.

“I give to my job what I would give to my nana,” she says.

“Working alongside residents and senior carers gave me the experience and confidence I needed.

“What I love most is making a difference every day, whether it’s a smile, a chat, or supporting someone who needs it. The connections feel like family.”

Amber now supports new trainees coming through the program.

“There will be tough days, but everything you do matters. You’re helping someone feel safe, valued, and cared for,” she says.
